#91142Caps come on man. Replay is one of the best things that happened to the nfl. The point of replay is to get the call right on the field. These plays happen so fast sometimes refs cannot see what is going on. I want to see the correct call on the field every single play. and that gives the team team who deserves to win the game....to win the game.
Now of course there are still so things that need to be looked at like you said( today pitt and mia). The dolphins came out of the pile with the ball, this is bullshit and shouldn't happen. But i do think that the template of replay is good. We dont need every single play reviewed....that would obviously take way to long to complete a game. Its good how they have it though... you get 2 challenges, if you think its a play that will have a big impact on the outcome of the game...then you challenge it, if not then dont.Comment -

btw, if you get 2 challenges right, you get a third. mike mccarthy chose NOT to utilize his 3rd challenge on a play that was actually a bad call -- the first down catch that was marked short. so you see, even letting coaches have challenges doesn't mean that a bad call gets made right. it's just the imperfection of people. in effect, i could argue that the challenge rule basically caused mike mccarthy to make a bad call on his own team. you can't use technology to remove imperfection from human nature. my opinion is just that over utilizing replay technology does more harm to the game than good. i'd rather see none of it, than more of it.Comment -

#91150My take is I love how replay is done in football. Great how it's coaches decision, and auto in the last 2 min. Even greater the NFL is experimenting with putting 2 gps units, 1 in each end of the ball, so they can tell exactly where the ball is when it's not completely visible. I would absolutely love it if MLB would wake the fvck up and put in an automated computer system calling balls and strikes. I see so many teams fvcked by umps time and time again. But apparently bud selig thinks mistakes is part of baseball tradition. My response would be if the technology existed when baseball was invented, don't you think they would have used these devices to get the game right?Comment -

#91151jnick, i'm not gonna repeat everything i just said, that's just how i feel. all are welcome to their opinions. a modified version of replay on scoring plays only is fine with me. but i was originally responding to a suggestion that we replay every down, which i thought was just too much. btw, if you get 2 challenges right, you get a third. mike mccarthy chose NOT to utilize his 3rd challenge on a play that was actually a bad call -- the first down catch that was marked short. so you see, even letting coaches have challenges doesn't mean that a bad call gets made right. it's just the imperfection of people. in effect, i could argue that the challenge rule basically caused mike mccarthy to make a bad call on his own team. you can't use technology to remove imperfection from human nature. my opinion is just that over utilizing replay technology does more harm to the game than good. i'd rather see none of it, than more of it.Comment -

#91153Caps, you make some good points. Im with you on the scoring plays for sure. I could live with it if they automatically reviewed any scoring or 1st down call that was questionable. This wouldn't slow the game down too much and is not too much to ask. EVERY scoring play should be 100% correct at a minimum. Im all for keeping the flow of the game and keeping it so that its watchable.
And your also correct about technology being the only answer. The combination of better technology and better trained refs would eliminate a lot of the mistakes.
And Double Bogey, while I agree with you somewhat I am one for keeping balls & strikes up to the umpire. Homeruns and Outs should all be subject to replay but balls and strikes should be left alone. That makes for a lot of the excitement of the game.
Lots of great opinions. At least we can all agree that the NFL replay system and officials training needs a lot of work.Comment -

#91154can't wait... i'm leaning cowgirls, i think they'll come out with the same intensity and desperation that they did against the Texans... but i'll wait to see what you have to say about tomorrow's game..

#91159why don't we just let a computer simulate the entire game and forget REAL baseball teams altogether? we'll just have electronic sports, played by gigabytes on led screens. to hell with athletes, we'll play the games out on a super computer! it's a GAME, man. entertainment. sport. it's about emotion and passion and winning and losing and coming back and overcoming adversity. a ball here, a strike there, you're really elevating sports to a level at which they weren't intended to exist. sport in this country was created as RECREATION amongst people, to promote exercise and teamwork. it's in any sports history book's opening chapter. so no, i don't think abner doubleday wanted some database from IBM calling balls and strikes.Comment -

#91166guess what guys. i had 9 plays on the 1pm games. tailed paco and LB. and i totally got ******. played each for 2x. came out with a fvckin 1-8 record. i don't think id be able to get that 1-8 even if i wanted to. and it was all so fvckin close. fvckin cocktease. pitt short by half a yard to get that last minute TD. the bears being the bears nothing more. ravens fvcking up. eagles fvckin the 4th qtr up. it should all have ended good with that oakland over, but i missed it. fml.happy for you paco. not fvckin happy for myself.
