The contrarian radar is locked in on our contrarian string play. Getting plus money on several teams with + money is going to be juicy. The squares will get slaughtered on opening. But of course, Lincecum can't lose, Greinke can't lose, they are Cy Young winners. Yeah right. Waiting for the 10 cent lines to come out. 5Dimes put out the 20 cent amateur line, we will wait.

By fading Tim and Zach, we ultimately create a Double Dog Contrarian Play. For the followers of the thread we will refer to this as DDCP. This is a strategy employed on many occasions throughout the season. Furthermore, we are always looking for opportunities to grind out positive units. If it presents itself, if I can win one game out of two and get positive units, we GO.

For those new to the thread

Welcome all to the Pair of 5s Sir season selections thread. Many of you who have followed in the past, know that I had a daily thread. But by requests of many, I intend on one thread for all selections.

My unit count will be based on a true count. One unit for one game. For example, if selecting the favorite at -160, it will be risking 1.60 units to win 1.0 units. Conversely a selection on a +160, I will be risking 1.0 units to win 1.6 units. This is the true blue way of recording a true record. Each thread follower would be able to determine how much would I have profited or not by applying dollar amount pet unit. No 5 unit, 10 unit, 20 unit bullshit.

My selection will include sides, RL and totals. Unlike last year, there will be no posting to the spreadsheet. With the anticipation of a number of iPhone postings, the spreadsheet is not technically solid. However, all posts will be posted to the thread.

As always, opposing points of view are welcomed. The thread goes from the start of the season and ends approximately half way thru the season, give or take a couple of weeks either way.

We start the season off with a contrarian alternate line play. Imagine being able to get the Yankees +2.5 runs -320. I just can't pass that up. There is no way in hell the Yankes lose by 3 runs, they are the best team in the MLB. However the contrarian radar goes in overdrive and lands a play on the Bosox.
