A few interesting games from Day 1:

*Penn rallies to upset Auburn.
*Rider - what a rally at Coastal Carolina: Coastal starter threw 6 INN almost perfect, left with a lead. Rider explodes for NINE in the 7th off the bullpen. Currently in Xtra Innings, Rider 10-9 trying to pull a shocker.

Rider does hold on to win 11-10. But their bullpen has to be shot.

Top starter Doelling went 3.2 INN. Bullpen went rest of the way, 6.1 INN.

Sam Hou St must have a team. They are -2.5 on the runline vs bigger name-team (Tulane).

Auburn is -170 vs SoMiss, after the upset loss to Penn.

Florida is -170 vs Tex Tech. Have to imagine the Gators have a nice HFA in The Swamp.

I know Campbell is a pretty good team. They are a HUGE fav vs Cent Conn. -520.

See the game I referenced above. People aren't buying Rider. Duke is a massive Fav vs Rider. -600 and -4.5 on Runline.

Coastal Carolina is surprisingly not a huge Fav vs UNC-Wilm. -170.

Ward, looking at the matchups, based purely on name-recognition the NEern-GeoMason line looks questionable:

*Geo Mason almost +400.

NEern did have an impressive Non-Conf. They beat the likes of IndSt, So Fla, and Duke. But that was back in February.

I can't imagine that the Strength of Schedule for these two teams merits a line of +400. That implies that GeoMason has a < 20% chance of winning.

I mentioned that Coastal Carolina blew that game with one bad inning yesterday. They pulled the starter after 6 innings and had to feel like the win was in the bag. 9-run 7th for Rider.

Coastal has pedigree, they have talent. If I had one banker today at a reasonable price, it would be Coastal -170.

And I'll fly with Geo Mason +400 as my longshot.

*Caveat: I admit to these being AIR-BETS. Not real $$, just opinions. I hate how these games are not priced to 20-cent juice. Fat straddle lines, which tells me that these are more like recreational numbers.

One more comment/opinion on the CONWAY Regional:

*These games are played on the Coastal campus.

In the past they've gone 30 miles east to the Minor League stadium, when that field was available.

The Coastal field is most definitely a hitter's park. The Coastal lineup scores a ton of runs. The field is not friendly for pitchers.

Total for the Coastal game is SEVENTEEN (17)! I think that # is hard to play, I'd pass there.

But I'd expect Duke/Rider to go Over 12.5. Rider has a pretty good team, but their bullpen will be short today. Percentage-wise, I feel that this game will likely get to 13+.

...WOW: cancel this writeup. Line moved to 14! See what I mean about these small markets.

Ward, I'm not yet saying there's a play here. But I researched Sam Hou vs Tulane:

*Sam Hou is not overwhelming. Thing is...Tulane made the field as a real outsider. 19-41, they won the Conf Tournament 4 out of 5 in the longshot role.

Tulane's Non-Conf record looks pretty bad. So, that game's a pass for me.

*TCU +200 (vs Arkansas)

...TCU has some pedigree in this tournament. Just not sure why they would be this big of a Dog.

FWIW, TCU did beat Ark 18-6 in Feb.
