Besides why not wait until Game 3 of this series when you get Smoltz in his first game back. I'm all most sure he will not finish that game and the bullpen will be used extensively. I believe the definition of a trap is a game that looks good on the surface but in reality is bad. IN this case, the Nats look good because Lannan has been good and they are underdogs at home. Nats have all the numbers in their favour tonight (slugging, whip, in their last 3 games etc.) ... And, while I hate going against CK, the Nats have only won 4 game-1's of a home series, against the Braves, Astros, Giants and Jays. None of those teams are even close to Boston caliber. Their overall game-1 home record is 4-8 which parallels their 12-23 record at home so they aren't losing more game 1's then they are losing overall at home, but still.
And they have yet to win a game 1 on the road.
My money's on the BoSox but heavy consensus tends to go to the books ...Comment -

22 teams have home records of .500 or better this year in MLB. Last licks is a huge advantage over the opposition. Nats were in this game until the bullpen came in. This team is terrible. Their bullpen blows almost every lead they get. They are the sucker play. +200are usually nice odds, but it isn't if you are betting on the nationals.
