Yost pulling shields and not putting in his stud three bullpen guys was an embarrassment. First of all he shouldn't be pulled. Then you put in Ventura who pitched Sunday and doesn't come in from the bullpen? Yost got bailed out big time.

Normally, that would mean take SF because there is perceived "value" according to my numbers. But you know how I feel about trying to be smarter than the books -- have a weird feeling that this line is basically a PK for a reason, and that -- like last night -- the game is a total toss-up.

I think the line is taking into consideration that Madison hasnt been pitching that well recently and his one bad outing vs Pitt in July. Having said that, I believe SF is the right side and the line is accurate

If both pitchers pitched to current form it would basically be a coin flip. I just figured far more likely Volquez gets blowed up making SF the only logical play here. I was really tempted to go with SF -1 at plus money, but stuck with the ML.
