Hopefully this clarifies. Really not trying to add to drama. It's really difficult to not respond to his nonsense though, as evidenced by various posters over various forms over various years..

It's difficult to know how much is the mental illness and how much is the alcoholism. In any case, the drinking cannot be helping. Part of me hopes he does go to jail so he can dry out and then think over some things. One would have thought almost dying would be rock bottom, but apparently not. He has many talents, but the mental illness and obsession with other person's problems (real or imagined) prohibit any path to a successful and joyful life. Most all of us hold ourselves back to some extent for various reasons, but then again, all of us aren't one step away from jail and stiffdom.

The money was borrowed in early to mid October. It was $400. He had been evicted for excessive noise I believe, and needed to get into a new place. He asked if he could borrow money till the end of the month. I was wary, because I had no idea how he would pay me back when he wasn't working. I told him I did not want to lend it to him unless he could assure me it would be paid back by the end of October. My experience is that the longer you give people to pay you back, the less likely you are to get paid. The end of October came and went, and he contacted me and told me he was unable to pay until the 15th. He kept telling me he would pay me back $500. I told him I was not concerned with profit, but I did want the principal back. . He assured me he had two checks coming in, and something else that would allow him to pay by the 15th. As circumstances would have it, eggs was arrested twice in two days for DUI and public intoxication. His car was impounded. Now he is in a position where there is no foreseeable date of repayment. I understand now that his priorities have necessarily changed. I get that.

What bothered me was in communication he indicated that his circumstance was "unavoidable "unlike those of Casper and Plommer (Casper never owed me btw.) asif his issue was less aggregiois. I do not believe egg's intention was to stiff me. I truly believe his intention was to pay me back. I believe that if the DUI would not have happened, I would at least have a portion of my money back right now. The problem is, as I should've known, these things will continue to happen to Steve until he gets sober. I hoped that this experience would teach him some humility. I did not like the fact that he continued after Plommer long after the bill was resolved...despite my personal feelings about what went down there. Instead, his debt/stiff was somehow different than Plommer's and he continued to make negative posts about him including allegations of cat abuse. I asked him several times what that was based on and he refused to answer. This made me incredibly angry as he has a history of creating his own history and version of events. He also told me that if I posted on the forums about the debt, he would not pay me. That was later retracted when he realize that would give me more incentive to post about it. The final straw was when eggs continued to harass and put down my closest forum friend, He challenged him to meet up for a beer and told him he would bring my money if he would meet. Of course he was not going to drive 1400 miles round-trip with money he did not actually have. The whole thing was ludicrous. But after reading paragraph after paragraph after paragraph of cruel, baseless, messenger digs at FW and threats of making up things to post on the Internet about him ( for no reason at all , FW had nothing to do with any of this) I didn't care anymore, and told FW he could post about the debt if he so chose. I knew Plommer would enjoy it a little too much, but he probably deserves to have a little payback given what Eggs has done in the past months. After self-appointing himself as forum savior from real and imagined threats, I'm sure Eggs can understand this post is simply In the interest of forum"protection."

Unreal...that's some bush league shit!

I understand your good intentions, but did you really expect any other outcome after sending money to a gambler who also just happened to be an alcoholic?

Steve seems like a good fella and I'm sure he did not mean to stiff you, but unfortunately his alcoholism had different plans for your $400.

Steve get better pal and do the right thing here.

Gl!
