⚽ Who will win Spain vs. Austria?
This is about as lopsided a Round of 32 game as we'll have, with Spain absolutely controlling the run of play through its possession metrics. Spain leads the way with 69.4% possession and 91% successful passing at the World Cup, and those numbers should be replicated today against Austria.
Spain has elite-tier field tilt and rarely relies on speculative shooting, instead creating excellent goal-scoring actions. But also, the defense is so elite that it will be able to handle the few attempts Austria do get through in transitional play. Spain has allowed 0.5 xG across all three Group Stage games - not averaged per 90, but in total. They'll pick up a comfortable lead, then possess and defend their way to the next round.
Score prediction: Spain 2, Austria 0
💵 My best bet: Austria Over 1.5 cards (+108 via FanDuel)
This bet is based on Austria's out-of-possession play, and I expect that to be in abundance this afternoon against a Spanish side likely to command 65-70% of the ball. Austria committed 13 fouls and was booked twice against the only elite opposition it's faced in the tournament.
Teams forced into defending against Spain for long periods often get pulled into being carded. Uruguay picked up three, Saudi Arabia recorded two. Only Cape Verde had fewer, recording just one, and that was a game in which Cape Verde committed only one foul.
🦶 Who will score in Spain vs. Austria?

Mikel Oyarzabal, F, Spain (-105)
Oyarzabal leads the way for Spain with two goals through the Group Stages, and he'll be the pivotal focus of the team's attack again today in a game that they should pile up two or three goals.
Spain relies on a patient buildup and feeding Oyarzabal the ball in the box, resulting in him getting shots off in every group game. Spain will hold about 65-70% of the ball, through Pedri and Yamal as distributors into the box, and today, with Nico Williams sidelined and Yeremy Pino dealing with a knock, that distribution should be heavily focused on Oyarzabal.
Best Spain vs. Austria goal-scorer pick: Mikel Oyarzabal (-105 via bet365)

🥅 Will both teams score in Spain vs. Austria?
It's an uphill battle for Austria to get on the board today. Spain will dominate possession and Austria's only chance to score will come via limited transitional attacks.
Spain's defense has been elite throughout the entire tournament, not conceding a single goal and only giving up 0.50 xG total across all three games. The defensive process, claiming 7.3 possessions in the final third (2nd in the tournament), has been top-tier. Naturally, its numbers for tackles and interceptions are well down - that's on account of the opposition never having sustained possession.
Both teams to score (BTTS) pick: No (-150 via bet365)
