Two East Division teams try to get one game closer to the Grey Cup. Find out who we think will advance with our Tiger-Cats vs. Alouettes CFL Picks.

For the second straight season, there will be no West Division crossover into the Eastern Semi-Finals. Also, for the second straight season, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats take on the Montreal Alouettes in the first round of the postseason. Last year, the Ticats hosted the Als and won, ultimately working their way to the Grey Cup.

It was a brutal 2022 campaign for both teams. Each battled through injuries and a schedule full of back-to-back matchups. In the end, Montreal came away with a 9-9 record and a second place finish in the division. The Ticats finished a game under .500 at 8-9 and two games better than the Saskatchewan Roughriders who were hoping for a crossover spot.

Here are our Tiger-Cats vs. Alouettes CFL picks for the Eastern Semifinals (odds via Caesars Sportsbook, DraftKings Sportsbook, and FanDuel Sportsbook; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Tiger-Cats vs. Alouettes Picks

  • Over/Under: Under 48.5 (-110 via DraftKings) ★★★★★

Tiger-Cats vs. Alouettes ML Pick

Tiger-Cats (+130) ★★★★

Montreal opened the season by losing six of their first eight games. Since then, they went on to finish the regular season with seven wins out of 10. They are 4-3 against East Division opponents in that span, however two of those wins came against the Ottawa Redblacks. They are 3-3 over their last six home games. The Als faced the Ticats three times in that period winning two of those meetings.

Hamilton is riding a four-game winning streak heading into the playoffs. They finished the regular season with back-to-back wins against the Ottawa Redblacks. Previous to that, they hung on to beat the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the Calgary Stampeders. The Tiger-Cats have won their last two games on the road, despite starting their season winless in their first seven games away from The Hammer.

Tiger-Cats vs. Alouettes ATS Pick

Tiger-Cats +3 (-110) ★★★★

Overall, the Alouettes finished their 2022 campaign 9-8-1 against the spread. However, they have failed to cover three of their last four. They are 1-1-1 in their three matchups with the Tiger-Cats this season against the spread.

Hamilton struggled this season finishing 7-10-1 against the spread, but they finished the season 3-1 ATS. In fact, they have covered four of their last six. They are also 3-1 when covering as underdogs in that period.

Tiger-Cats vs. Alouettes O/U Pick

Under 48.5 (-110) ★★★★★

The Ticats have reached the Over in only two of their last five games. Hamilton ranks sixth in the league scoring 23.4 points per game this season. They allowed an average of 26.3 points per contest during the regular season. However, that number decreased to 22.4 over their last five games.

Montreal has gone over their total in two of their last three games. However, they have failed to top their projected point total in five of their last seven contests. Both the Als and the Ticats eclipsed this mark in their most recent game against the Ottawa Redblacks.

These two teams have surpassed this mark only once in their last five meetings, including their Eastern Semi-Final matchup in the 2021 season.
