Two teams that have trended in completely different directions this season meet in the West Division semifinal on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. ET (TSN/RDS, CFL+), as the BC Lions take on the Saskatchewan Roughriders from Mosaic Stadium in Regina, Sask.

  • Our Lions vs. Roughriders prediction expects Saskatchewan to continue thriving after closing out the regular season by winning four of its final five games
  • BC has the longest Grey Cup odds in the West as it continues to struggle at the QB position
  • The Roughriders are 3.5-point home favorites and were a league-best 11-7 ATS this season

In their second-last game of the regular season, the Roughriders crushed the Lions 39-8. And not much has changed since then.

Make sure to also check out our Redblacks vs. Argonauts prediction for a look at what's going on in the East.

Lions vs. Roughriders prediction: QB controversy in the Pacific province

CFL picks confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale.

Roughriders -3.5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Lions are living proof that what happens in June and July really doesn't matter come October and November.

After looking like the best team in the CFL, an injury to Vernon Adams Jr. and the signing of Nathan Rourke have derailed BC's season. Rourke hasn't looked like his 2022 self and now Adams is the starter again.

Regardless of who's under center, BC's offense is about as sporadic as the Toronto Maple Leafs in the playoffs. Despite their hot start, the Lions ended up putting up the fourth-fewest points per game in the CFL (24.9) and third-lowest QB rating (93.2) this season.

That won't cut it against a Roughriders defense that gave up the third-fewest points per game (24.1) and second-fewest yards per game this year (374.6).

Trevor Harris, the ageless wonder

Meanwhile, the Roughriders have been cooking with 38-year-old Trevor Harris looking like one of the best QBs in the league since returning from injury. He finished fourth in the league in TD passes (20) even though he played only 11 games.

Saskatchewan averaged 28.7 points per game over Harris' final eight starts and BC has struggled against quality QBs. The Lions allowed the highest QB rating to opponents this season (107.2).

With Harris flanked by A.J. Ouellette, Samuel Emilus, and KeeSean Johnson, the Roughriders should score enough to cover. If they do, a $10 bet pays a $9.52 profit.
