Monday features a potential playoff preview when two of the top teams in the American League square off, and we're offering our top Blue Jays vs. Astros player props based on the best MLB odds.

Two contenders by the World Series odds face off Monday as the Houston Astros host the Toronto Blue Jays at Minute Maid Park after losing their first four games of the season. First pitch is slated for 8:10 p.m. ET.

It's also a tilt featuring two contenders in the MLB MVP odds, with Kyle Tucker and Yordan Alvarez taking center stage for the Astros on Monday. Those two sluggers will look to do damage against an inexperienced starting pitcher for the Jays.

The Blue Jays send 27-year-old Bowden Francis to the mound, with just 37 major-league innings to his name. However, the Jays will also get an inexperienced pitcher in Ronel Blanco, who has also logged fewer than 60 MLB innings in his career.

Can we expect some of the game's biggest names to take advantage of potentially weaker starting pitching? Or will one of these hurlers shine in this highly anticipated matchup?

To accompany our MLB Player Props & Best Bets, here are our best Blue Jays vs. Astros player prop prediction and MLB picks (odds via our best MLB betting sites; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Blue Jays vs. Astros prediction

Ronel Blanco Over 4.5 strikeouts (-105 via Betway) ⭐⭐⭐

Astros right-hander Ronel Blanco has logged just 58 1/3 innings at the major-league level, but he's far from a youngster. Blanco has been with the Astros organization since 2016, and he's racked up strikeouts in bunches across various minor-league levels.

Blanco punched out exactly one batter per inning in 52 frames last season (seven starts in 17 appearances), and he actually had better strikeout rates as a starter than a reliever.

Opposing Blanco is a Jays team that's tough on opposing pitchers, as it struck out at the sixth-lowest rate last season. Toronto has been equally tough through four games this campaign, striking out in only 21.7% of its combined plate appearances.

However, Blanco is projected to record 5.01 strikeouts on Monday. When we run that projection against Betway's -105 odds, we get roughly 10% positive expected value. We'll gladly take that for our first three-star pick of this game.

If you want to back Blanco to have a strong performance in an Astros win, you can get boosted odds at Betway from +213 to +240 by parlaying Houston to win along with the Boston Red Sox and New York Mets!

Yordan Alvarez Over 1.5 total bases (-125 via Betway) ⭐⭐⭐

Astros DH Yordan Alvarez is one of the most feared hitters in the majors, but the New York Yankees completely shut him down in their four-game set. Alvarez managed just two hits in 19 plate appearances, finishing the series with a .118/.211/.118 slash line. However, he's projected to do some damage on Monday, and those struggles are a big reason we're getting a good price on this Over.

Alvarez can hit either righties or lefties (he had a .292 and .295 average last season against each, respectively), but he showcases more of his power against the former. The big DH smashed 25 home runs in 264 at-bats against right-handers last season compared to only six in 146 ABs against southpaws.

That bodes well for Alvarez's chances to get an extra-base knock on Monday, and his projections confirm those beliefs.

When we run Alvarez's hitting projections against this price at Betway, we're getting better than 13% +EV. This -125 price is the best across any of our best sports betting sites, so act quickly.

Kevin Kiermaier Over 0.5 total bases (-180 via Betway) ⭐⭐⭐

Blue Jays outfielder Kevin Kiermaier had a nightmare series against the Tampa Bay Rays, striking out in five of his 10 plate appearances across three games. However, we're betting on him to bounce back on Monday.

Based on Kiermaier's projections, we're getting a ton of value by attacking the Over on his total bases prop, and these -180 odds at Betway represent the best price across any of our best sports betting apps.

The outfielder was far better on the road last season compared to at home, and now that he's escaped his old stomping grounds of Tropicana Field (where he regularly recorded worse stats as a member of the Tampa Bay Rays), he should get back on track at the plate.

Blue Jays vs. Astros player props made Monday at 10:30 a.m. ET.
