LSU vs. Auburn Prediction: Week 8 Odds, Picks & Best Bet (Oct. 24)
Last Updated: October 23, 2026 12:00 PM EDT • 3 minute read X Social Google News Link
My best LSU vs. Auburn prediction centers on No. 18 LSU's run defense against one of the SEC's most run-heavy offenses. Auburn knocked off Georgia last week, but I highlight why backing the Tigers to pull off another upset this week is a mistake.
LSU is favored by 7.5 ahead of Saturday's noon ET game at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, Ala. The game will air on ABC and stream on ESPN Unlimited.

LSU -7.5 (-105 via DraftKings)
Auburn's win at Georgia was impressive, but the Tigers were outgained by 74 yards and won the turnover battle 3-0, yet still won only on a last-second field goal. LSU ranks seventh in yards and points per game, and though Sam Leavitt and Co. have lost 11 turnovers, LSU's defense has forced nine, so I don't expect Auburn to win the turnover battle as convincingly on Saturday.
Additionally, Auburn's offense averages 26.8 points per game, ranking 13th in the SEC. Auburn has scored more than 27 against just one of the five Power 4 opponents it has faced, scoring 21 or fewer three times. LSU is allowing just 15.9 points per game, tied for the second-fewest in the SEC, and just 4.28 yards per play. It's going to be hard for an Auburn offense that ranks 92nd in yards per play to move the ball effectively.
📡 SBR Edge: LSU's third-down success
LSU is one of the best third-down teams in the nation, converting on 53.33% of attempts, while only allowing opponents to convert on 30.61% of opportunities. While Auburn is allowing opponents to convert on just 34.41% of third-down attempts, Georgia went 6-for-12 against the Tigers last week.
LSU's rush defense is too much for Auburn's running game
Led by quarterback Byrum Brown and running back Jeremiah Cobb, Auburn ranks sixth in the SEC in rushing yards per game. This is a team that ranks 37th nationally in rushing attempts per game, while ranking just 56th in pass attempts per game. Auburn ranks 113th in pass yards per attempt.
All of this makes LSU a nightmare matchup for Auburn. LSU ranks 11th in the nation and first in the SEC in rushing yards allowed per game, and the country's 18th-ranked team ranks ninth in yards allowed per carry, giving up just 2.82 per attempt.
