The Alabama Crimson Tide, riding a three-game winning streak, are set to clash with the Texas A&M Aggies in a pivotal SEC West battle, and we provide our expert prediction for the Alabama vs. Texas A&M matchup, relying on the college football odds from our best sports betting apps.

Are the Alabama Crimson Tide and head coach Nick Saban being underrated ahead of their Week 5 visit to College Station to face the Texas A&M Aggies?

The Crimson Tide were once a touchdown-sized favorite in this matchup in lookahead lines, and even with Alabama rounding into form following an uncharacteristic start and sporting a 4-1 record, there’s been line movement in the Texas A&M direction.

Here is our best Alabama vs. Texas A&M prediction and our college football picks (odds via our best college football betting sites; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Alabama vs. Texas A&M prediction

Alabama ML (-120 via Caesars) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Since when did it become in vogue to fade Nick Saban? With the line movement we’ve seen in the lead-up to this critical SEC West clash at Kyle Field, the sportsbooks are still treating Alabama like the team that stumbled against Texas at home and nearly endured a debacle at South Florida the following week.

But over the past two weeks, what have we seen to suggest that Alabama isn’t still a dominant force? The Tide won by two touchdowns against Ole Miss, limiting the Rebels to 10 points one week before hanging 55 on LSU.

We saw that again in Week 5 when Alabama went on the road and beat Mississippi State, as the Tide intercepted Will Rogers thrice and limited the Bulldogs to 261 yards of total offense. Alabama went for more than 350 yards on offense, running the ball with consistent success.

Though Texas A&M’s stout run defense could force Jalen Milroe to win with his arm, something he hasn’t had to do yet, Alabama’s sixth-ranked defense in adjusted efficiency can keep scoring low enough to where it may not take more than 24 points to win this game. Texas A&M’s defense is good, but not consistent enough for me to back in this matchup.

On the coaching side, I’m giving Saban the advantage over Jimbo Fisher in this battle, and we’ll just say we’re glad we didn’t bet it in August.

Caesars (-120)

-120-120-120-120-120

The spread sitting at Alabama -1.5 at DraftKings, FanDuel, and BetMGM is not worth betting when we can effectively buy our way to the moneyline for 10 cents. If you want to ride with the meager point spread, bet Alabama at Caesars or bet365 where you can land Bama -1 with standard -110 odds.

Personally, I don’t mind paying the 10 cents to avoid a potential push. As of this writing, the moneyline odds are identical at -120 across all our recommended shops.

Alabama vs. Texas A&M odds analysis

Alabama opened in August as a 7.5-point favorite on the look-ahead line, but we’ve seen the number creep all the way down to Alabama -1.5 at most sportsbooks. In a stunning turn, Caesars and bet365 have the line down to -1. At this time, 52% of wagers are still on the Crimson Tide.

The total originally opened at 54.5, but we’ve seen the number floating between 46 and 46.5 this week. That reaction to that movement has brought action on the Over, with 57% of wagers going Over.
