Soft2Bet, a global name in online betting and gaming solutions, has announced that it is officially moving into the North American market thanks to receiving the necessary Certificate of Registration from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO). Many of our best sports betting sites are already available in Ontario.

Soft2Bet is preparing for an imminent launch of tooniebet.com in Canada's only legal iGaming province and is poised to become the latest Ontario sports betting app. Ontario is widely considered one of the world's largest regulated gambling markets.

It is an important step for Soft2Bet, which has worked to infiltrate the North American market and now gets to do so in an Ontario sports betting market that has surpassed expectations since it launched in August 2021 and iGaming went live in April 2022.

Getting access to its Ontario market may expedite a licensing opportunity in New Jersey, another of North America's top iGaming jurisdictions.

Elisabeth Isaksson, Head of Regulatory Compliance at Soft2Bet, commented: “Being registered with the AGCO in Ontario is a testament to the work our compliance and regulatory teams are doing daily to enable our continued expansion in the world’s largest regulated markets. We’re immensely excited about taking our first steps in North America and look forward to licensing and launching in more jurisdictions in the region.”

Chief Business Development Officer Martin Collins said, “This Ontario certification is another significant and important step in our corporate expansion plans. It fits perfectly with our stated aim of growing our regulatory footprint and we very much look forward to continuing forward on this path.”

What is Soft2Bet?

Soft2Bet is a fairly big player in the business of iGaming and sports betting globally. It has a strong presence in Italy, Greece, and Romania, among the more than 10 remote gambling licenses it holds worldwide. It would surely like to leave its mark and become one of the best sportsbooks in Canada.

Soft2Bet will bring a competitive, exclusive, and proprietary online casino and sports betting solutions to the Ontario market. Its platform has won numerous awards around the world, including "Best Online Casino Product Of The Year" in Malta, "Online Casino Provider Of The Year" from the Sigma Awards" and both "Platform Provider Of The Year" and "Northern European Operator Of The Year" at the SBC Awards.

The Ontario market

Ontario's iGaming and sports betting market has steadily increased since its launch. Wagering activity and revenues have grown every quarter since going live, with Q4 of 2023 being its best. There are 30 legal Ontario sports betting apps available today.

In 2023, Ontario iGaming sites reported $59.3 billion in accepted wagers and $2.26 billion in revenues, making the province one of the top-performing legal gambling jurisdictions in the North American market.

Those numbers showed strong year-over-year growth from $21.64 billion in 2022 and revenues of $866 million.

Q4 of 2023 was especially strong for the Ontario iGaming industry. Regulators reported a 21% year-over-year increase in wagering activity to $17.2 billion for the quarter and a 22% year-over-year revenue increase for the 3-month period.

Competition will be fierce

tooniebet.com will face stiff competition in the Ontario market when it goes live. It will compete with all of North America’s top providers.

Big names such as bet365, FanDuel, and DraftKings will offer a big test to Soft2Bet as it tries to make an impact against 30 other Ontario sports betting sites.
