We are now less than two weeks away from the much-anticipated launch of legal sports betting in the Tar Heel State – and are prepping bettors to hit the ground running on March 11 at noon local time.

Seven North Carolina sports betting apps were granted licenses Thursday, while Caesars was given a service provider license. All opened for pre-registration on Friday, starting just after noon for those 21 years of age and older in the Tar Heel State market.

Those looking to join the North Carolina sports betting fray can download these North Carolina sports betting apps to their Apple and Android devices or via desktop. Here's a breakdown of North Carolina sportsbook promos by pre-registration offer:

While residents will not be able to place a bet until March 11, they will be able to get the ground running and set themselves up to place a wager immediately when the betting window opens on March 11. Just in time to bet on UNC's March Madness odds.

North Carolina sports betting at a glance

North Carolina residents will have a small-ish but quality set of sports betting providers from which to choose. All of the biggest names in the broad and expanding U.S. industry are present in the state and each are eager to battle for market share in what is considered one of the most exciting new markets to come to life in America in the last 12 months.

North Carolina sports betting apps will provide a full menu of sports betting opportunities on all of the typical sports in the vast, comprehensive, and growing U.S. legal sports betting industry.

Why pre-register for North Carolina sports betting?

In addition to being ready to place a bet on Day 1 of North Carolina's legal sports betting platform, there are a couple of other benefits to pre-registering.

The first is getting the registration and funding of your personal account out of the way. While it only takes a few minutes, having you account ready for Day 1 is valuable. Pre-registering allows users to familiarize themselves with just what the platform requires and just how to deposit funds into their account.

The second is some added value that sportsbooks will employ to entice you into signing up for its sports betting wagering product. You will generally be able to claim a welcome offer in addition to a pre-registration Bonus with a given North Carolina sportsbook.

In the case of sportsbooks not offering both a pre-registration bonus and a welcome bonus, often the pre-registration perk is as good or even better than the ones presented after a sportsbook launches.

Be wary of the fact that if you, for instance, signed up for DraftKings in Massachusetts, you will not be eligible for a Welcome Bonus in the North Carolina market. Only new users to a North Carolina sports betting site will be able to claim the welcome offer.
