Henrik Stenson Ousted as European Ryder Cup Captain

Henrik Stenson will not be the captain of Team Europe for the 2023 Ryder Cup beginning September 25, 2023.

Ryder Cup Europe announced the termination of Henrik Stenson’s tenure as captain of Team Europe for the 2023 Ryder Cup at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club in Rome, Italy beginning September 25, 2023.

Stenson represented Europe in five Ryder Cups with an overall record of 10-7-2, and Europe won the Ryder Cup Trophy in three of his appearances in the tournament. 

Named the captain for the 2023 Ryder Cup on March 15, 2022, it was a short-lived tenure, as Stenson signed with the LIV Golf Invitational Series.

Europe is currently a +190 underdog to win the 2023 Ryder Cup with the USA sporting -190 odds, and the event ending in a tie listed at +1200.  

The USA won easily in 2021 with a 19-9 victory at Whistling Straits in Kohler, WI. It was the largest margin of victory in the event since 1975.
