Ovechkin recorded an assist and four shots during Tuesday’s 4-2 win to help the Capitals take a 1-0 series lead. However, the Panthers are still -184 favorites to win the series against Washington at FanDuel Sportsbook.

It’s also worth noting Ovechkin missed the final three games of the regular season with an upper-body injury, but he showed little rust in his return.

The veteran winger recorded 50 goals and 90 points during the regular season, and his 1.89 goals and 24.32 shot attempts per 60 minutes ranked fourth and second in the league, respectively.

Additionally, Ovechkin’s nine shot attempts led all skaters in Game 1.

The Capitals are currently listed at +2500 to win the Stanley Cup at DraftKings Sportsbook, and Ovechkin is +5000 to win the second Conn Smythe Trophy in his decorated career.

Here’s a quick peek at Ovechkin’s player prop totals at DraftKings, FanDuel and Caesars Sportsbooks.

Washington remains a huge underdog in Game 2, and as noted, the Caps aren’t projected to advance to Round 2 by beating the high-scoring Panthers. Still, Florida hasn’t been a strong defensive team.

The Panthers surrendered 13 high-danger scoring chances in Game 1, and they allowed the fourth most expected goals per 60 minutes among playoff teams during the regular season.

For what it’s worth, the Washington-Florida game has the highest Over/Under total on the docket at 7.0 goals at FanDuel, whereas DraftKings and Caesars are both hanging a 6.5 number.

Bookmakers are clearly expecting plenty of offense Thursday.
