The third session of organized team activities began Monday in the NFL, which is a fitting time to evaluate the teams in our first installment of our NFL Power Rankings.

2022-23 NFL Power Rankings

1. Los Angeles Rams

Head coach Sean McVay is 55-26 during his tenure with the Rams. The stars such as Matthew Stafford and Aaron Donald are back on both sides of the ball, and the NFC West isn’t as tough as it’s been in recent years.

2. Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs should have been in their third consecutive Super Bowl last season, and quarterback Patrick Mahomes is the most talented player in the league.

3. Buffalo Bills

Sure, Buffalo might boast the most well-rounded roster in the NFL. But how often does the betting favorite in June end up winning it all in February?

4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

If the Bucs steer through a tough opening four-game stretch, look out. The roster doesn’t have many holes, and Tom Brady led the league in passing yards and touchdowns last year at 43 years old.

5. Green Bay Packers

Back-to-back MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers will continue to garner the headlines, but it’ll be the defense doing the heavy lifting while the Packers take a run at the No. 1 seed in the NFC.

6. Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens are set to rebound after having the second most man games lost last year. Plus, quarterback Lamar Jackson is 37-12 during the regular season.

7. Los Angeles Chargers

Good luck nitpicking this roster. The problem has been the Chargers haven’t ever been able to translate their high-end talent into postseason success.

8. Cincinnati Bengals

Shoring up the offensive line is promising, but the AFC is loaded, and a lot went right for the Bengals a year ago.

9. Denver Broncos

Despite all the offseason upgrades, including adding quarterback Russell Wilson, the Broncos are still listed behind the Chiefs and Chargers to win the AFC West at most sportsbooks.

10. Dallas Cowboys

While the Cowboys are loaded with talented playmakers on both sides of the ball, do you actually trust them to put it all together in a playoff game?

11. Tennessee Titans

It’s easy to forget the Titans earned the No. 1 seed in the AFC last season, as head coach Mike Vrabel continues to help Tennessee punch above its weight class.

12. Cleveland Browns

Quarterback Deshaun Watson’s potential suspension looms, but the Brownies also have an easy schedule to start the season, so the blow might be softened.

13. San Francisco 49ers

As long as the 49ers are committed to starting second-year quarterback Trey Lance, they’re in the wait-and-see queue.

14. Indianapolis Colts

Adding veteran quarterback Matt Ryan should bring stability on offense and keep the Colts in playoff contention all season.

15. Philadelphia Eagles

No team has the potential to climb these rankings quicker than Philly, and the Eagles could even enter their Week 6 matchup against their rival Dallas Cowboys with a 5-0 record.

16. Miami Dolphins

The big offseason splashes were bringing in head coach Mike McDaniel and wide receiver Tyreek Hill. Yet even with the upgrades, are the Dolphins an actual threat in the AFC?

17. New Orleans Saints

While there’s a lot of individual talent on the roster, and the NFC South has a couple of doormats, the Saints are probably still a long shot to win a playoff game.

18. New England Patriots

Head coach Bill Belichick warrants credit, but take a peek at the New England roster and ask yourself who the game-changing talents are.

19. Las Vegas Raiders

Oddsmakers have the Raiders as longshots to win the tough AFC West, but they’re still probably as good a candidate as any team in this range to earn a playoff berth.

20. Arizona Cardinals

This could prove to be a tough season for the Cards, and it could be over in a hurry with a daunting three-game stretch to open the season.

21. Minnesota Vikings

What did the Vikings do during the offseason to shift expectations above finishing in the middle of the NFC for a third consecutive year?

22. Pittsburgh Steelers

It might not be immediate, but how surprising would it be if rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett proved to be an upgrade at quarterback this season? Plus, the Steelers made the playoffs with retired signal-caller Ben Roethlisberger last season.

23. Detroit Lions

The Detroit rebuild appears to be headed in the right direction, and even with all his shortcomings, quarterback Jared Goff can succeed in a game-manager role.

24. Washington Commanders

The Commanders are littered with question marks, and no one should be shocked if Washington finished last in the NFC East.

25. New York Jets

Pundits expect the Jets to be more competitive this season. Are they going to win more games, though?

26. Jacksonville Jaguars

It’s hard to imagine franchise quarterback Trevor Lawrence not taking a notable step forward this season, and the Jags did upgrade the roster during the offseason with the likes of Christian Kirk.

27. New York Giants

The hope is head coach Brian Daboll can rejuvenate quarterback Daniel Jones’ career and enable the signal caller to utilize his plus-athleticism.

28. Seattle Seahawks

The Russell Wilson era has ended in Seattle, and the Seahawks are eyeing a rebuild. Unfortunately, the organizational brass is probably blind to that reality.

29. Houston Texans

Until the Texans land a new franchise quarterback, they’ll be among the NFL’s basement dwellers. Houston added a haul of draft picks by shipping quarterback Deshaun Watson to Cleveland on the plus side.

30. Carolina Panthers

The Panthers didn’t aggressively address their quarterback situation during the offseason, and they also haven’t had a winning year since 2017.

31. Atlanta Falcons

Hopefully, there are enough highlight-reel plays from wide receiver Drake London and tight end Kyle Pitts to entertain fans because there won’t be many wins to celebrate.

32. Chicago Bears

The weapons surrounding second-year quarterback Justin Fields are underwhelming, and the Bears unloaded talent on the other side of the ball during the offseason.
