This was a terrible match to bet on. You had no idea how it was going to come out. Tomic is doing his typical pout and run when things go south.

Yeah, oh well. More of just an action play. I just found it very odd that he announced his retirement before his match. Thought maybe he was dealing with an injury and expected to lose.

I think as stated, he knew that from this round on out he could lose at any time and I think he made the announcement because he wanted to give the fans as he said a chance to say good-bye and vice versa instead of a post-match announcement that he was done.
