I think Maria is playing to her strengths lately and has looked better
than ever since her surgery. Serena is getting old and if Maria can
corner her into some chase situations she can win. Yes it's a longshot
and what I do here is just play/donate some of the winnings cuz the
reward makes it worthwhile. It's not hard to cover the bet with something
else, either.
I'm just not big on tennis spread lines. One thing they are good at however,
is telling us what the linesmakers REALLY think, because the ML's get all out
of whack but the spreads really tell the story.
Rather I should say I hate laying games in spreads, but will sometimes take games.
Laying games is an exercise in undue risk, all it takes is one bad Set and you lose the bet.
Now, even if Maria is getting +5 (i predict 4 or 4.5) how does that help me if it's Serena 6-3,6-3 ? And I would have to lay 110 or more to win 100.
By taking Maria ML I only have to lay 25 to win 100.
I also have Maria in futures, but Serena -500 makes it unhedgeable.
Heck, Serena will "probably" win, but that's why ya just throw some house money on it

I think for this match, it's more about how Serena plays than Sharapova. Even if Sharapova shows up with her best game, it won't be enough to beat Serena the way she's serving. There's nothing you can do when someone is serving that well. Of course Sharapova can try to beat her from the baseline but even then I believe Serena holds an edge in that dept as well.
To sum it up, Serena will have many 40-0 serve holds while Sharapova will be deep in duece on several of her service holds. I believe when it gets to the second set, Serena's aces/service winners and the fast easy points will eventually frustrate Sharapova.

Maria needs a high percentage first serve to compete. Get the first one in and she can compete with serena. If she doesn't it'll be more of what we saw today.Comment -

No way, I will not and have never layed any single bet on a -500 regardless of who it is. If I can't find value in the games/set line, its no action. They'll be much better spots than to take a -500 fave. There's plenty of other matches and no value to either end to lay that much chalk....it's foolish.Comment -

Took my freeplay and have the potential to multiply it by 16 thanks to a miracle three run homer by Mathis in the 9th in the A's/Jays game. Thinking of putting 150 or so on Sharapova. Serena owns the h2h and has been on an incredible run, but stranger things have definitely happened. Hmm...
