If this match continues tomorrow, it will heavily favor Isner. He looks dead tired right now. He'll be refreshed tomorrow.

Isner couldnt take it anymore, threw in the towel. His first serves on that last game all looked like WTA/Makarova serves.

GSM. lets really look at what happened here: John Isner, who took Nadal to the limit last year, just lost to....paul henri mathieu. Im not really bummed about it. Given the same circumstances at a different time Id make the same bet.

That last service game was poor.

And the last shot was horrid...Had the whole court to work with.

Dimitrov will never be Top 10....I doubt he'll reach top 20. His mental game is similar to that of Verdasco's .....pure egg shells. He had a a good first set than proceeded to play like he was in a junior boys match and got crushed in the remaining three set. I knew that this bum couldnt outlast Gasquet.

Really, really can't wrap my head around this one the more I think about it. I mean, everyone's entitled to bad days but Mathieu hadn't played a ton of tennis all season, in fact barely any. When it went to a 5th set I thought fitness would be an issue and Isner would cruise to something like a 6-4 or 6-3 win in that set for the match. But no, PHM had something like 24 break chances against Isner's huge serve. A couple months ago Isner beat Djokovic in 3 sets, winning the third in a tiebreak. I saw huge improvements in his footwork and groundies, and he loses to this scrub? I could never imagine this. IMHO, this is a bigger upset to me than Serena's ugly loss against Razzano. Pretty fukking pissed.

Tough loss Tevari, sorry brotha....I personally never liked Isner's game. He needs to work on his return game during the offseason. His groundstrokes has so many holes. The key to beating him is to bombard him with a lot of groundstrokes deep and to the body. I noticed Mathieu doing this a lot to him and eventually frustrated Isner to the point where he just depended on his serve. Isner started to hit everything wide or into the net after PHM figured him out.

tevari, look at these scorelines and the odds. Every one of these matches there is at least one tiebreak other than with Da Silva lol and a loss to Monaco as the favourite. That's why to me this is way less shocking than Serena. And why I've bet on Isner maybe 5 times ever. Even when he wins, he gets pushed because he's purely a server. In this match Mathieu had 24 chances to break Isner. Isner had 4. Mathieu's 1st serve points won= 76%. Isner = 71%. If his serve is off or his opponent has the game to handle it, he's fukked. Sometimes he can escape but you can't give someone 24 bp chances if serving's the only trick up your sleeve because eventually you'll pay for it. I've always said on here that as soon as someone starts hammering balls using his chest as a target, he has nothing to reply with. And MagicDiceFlow is right - the guy needs to get his ass off of the couch and away from Playstation and football games and work on his return game, never mind his footwork and drop shots.

I'm so sorry you lost this one but I can't stand backing Isner, purely for what exactly happened in this match. If it's any consolation, I've just put a bit of cash on Jaziri to win the 5th set so hopefully Granny goes home too.

Agreed. But its not someone like Simon (who Isner beat at the US open last year) or Ferrer who doggedly goes after every ball and fights for every point....its Mathieu. Cmon. Im not disputing the outcome of this match. PHM straight up outplayed him. On to the next day. I wont let this match define my tournament.

I used to do these kinds of mulitple parlays like this in tennis. Not anymore. Sometimes I'll take max 3 players.. w/ a Nadal thrown in there... but mostly just for fun.

The rule is basically that in the end someone usually shits the bed ... despite how damn good looking the bet is.

B/c, really, the bet looked good.
