I was on Fed yesterday, that match was 1 point away from going to a 5th set. Fed had that match and the errors started to show up and it was too much only because Nadal was playing phenomenal tennis, he was going after every shot and lets be honest he got lucky on a few of those ridiculous passing shots!

Saying all that though, I agree that both Federer and Nadal looked MUCH better than Joker and Murray.

Joker had an AMAZING year last year, repeating something like that is EXTREMELY tough. Its just like an sport, people catch onto many of your tenancies.

If Federer can reduce the errors he will be just fine. Physically he looked great especially in that first set.

I also think the fireworks were ridiculous last night, messed with the momentum. Should have just done them before the match. Its absurd to delay a match so you can have fireworks in the middle of it.

As far as the fireworks go, we can't really expect Melbourne to change their annual Australia Day celebrations to accommodate a tennis match. They had to wait until the sun went down yet do it early enough so those with kids could still go watch. And the players know it happens every year and were reminded about it on court before the match started. So yeah it sucks but really I don't think that aspect will change. If anything, I'd think these bloody killer moths and shithawks would be more annoying.

shari I know they do it every year but I think it's ridiculous. Maybe the AO should adjust their schedule around it so no matches are ongoing when the fireworks happen.

I remember watching when it happened last year. Players were not happy about the long break. It messes with the match. Saying that they're told about it doesn't really help much. If they were told they had to play in a thunderstorm and they knew ahead of time...

Yeah if anything it would be the AO adjusting but then the match wouldn't be on prime time here which obviously the tv network wouldn't agree to. So I guess they're just going to have to suck it up. It's not ideal but at least they made the semis

Murray is DEFINITELY playing better tennis than he ever has. He hasn't given up on any points and that is what has gotten Joker for sure. That last point he refused to let up and Joker he some great shots and Murray just kept running. Joker should have come in to the net there on one of those because Murray is going after every wide shot.
