Venus honestly won't know what hit her. I believe this tournament is Lisicki's to win. Probably the best, or second best serve left on the women's draw, brimming with confidence, and really playing loose without having anything to lose.

Thanks. Let's take a look at some stats from both players in their opening round matchup.

Williams- (who played an opponent who got off a 12 hour flight from Russia, and got to the arena at 4 PM that day):

-66% first serve percentage
-77% winning percentage on first serve
-Big dip to 50% winning on second serve
-28 winners, 27 unforced errors. Not a good ratio
-But the key factor - Dolonts only served 52% of her first serves, and Venus won a total of 19/52 receiving points, first and second serves combined. I can only imagine what that figure will be if Lisicki's serve is on

Lisicki-

-Lower than normal first serve % at 56%, but of those, she won 26/31 points on her first serve.
-5 aces
-Bondarenko's first serve % was at 68%, and she managed to win just over half those points, indicating that Lisicki's return game is on.
-29 winners, 32 unforced errors is a bit disconcerting, but she should clean that up
-4 of 9 on break point chances

Apparently Lisicki only just arrived in time for her first round match cuz of Irene. Might have had an effect on why she was a little rusty. I'd expect a better performance today especially when she's playing someone like Venus. She'll be up for it.

last time i had a big bet on a wta match was lisicki-bartoli @wimbledon and i picked..... bartoli. since this match i´m very into lisicki and feel very comfortable with her today ! good luck !

Good luck with that, bud. Venus is obviously not in form, but you can never put it past her in the US or Wimbledon to reappear in form. Love Lisicki, though, hope she lives up to her potential.
