Tsonga -130 vs. Wawrinka +120 Thoughts

What are your thoughts on this. I'm reading everywhere that everyone thinks Tsonga will win. the french crowd is going to be going wild on the main court and we all know Wawrinka doesn't have the most confidence right now. Obviously Wawrinka is a better clay court player but these courts are faster and the balls are lighter this year. I watched Tsonga vs Andreev and he was impressive but Wawrinka was also impressive against Schoorel who a lot of people thought would cause an upset. I just have a feeling this might go 5, and I just am thinking Wawrinka will win this, his level is definitely raised from his poor results on clay this year.

There is no question about who I want to win this match. I think it will be very tough though. I think the over is a far easier play here - then you can just sit back and enjoy the match. the over is at 40.5 now which is pretty high....I don't think there is any way this goes 3 sets.

There's three matches tomorrow that offer similar odds: Tsonga-Wawrinka, Gasquet-Bellucci, Youzhny-Montanes. It will be very interesting to see how they pan out, but I would think if you bet the dogs in all three, you might hit two and profit. I'd rank the best shot as Bellucci, then Montanes, then Wawrinka. I really think Tsonga is going to win, but there's too much interest in that one. So passing.

Good post. I definitely think the over is the safest play here. I will say, Tsonga has looked dominant so far this tourney, I watched the andreev/tsonga match and he was absolutely flawless on serve. Crushing on his serve, which this years court seems to really enhance, Tsonga even handled longer rallies well.

Wawrinka has looked pretty average this last or two month, losing to tsonga in an exhibition match just this month. Losing to brown and lopez is not a good sign either, but this is not Munich and I dont see this in anyway being a straight match affair.

I agree. I normally don't touch him outside of Slams unless I have a clear edge with the odds because he's so up and down. But it's kind of hard to pass him up in a Slam at home. Especially against Wawa who has been mediocre at times lately to say the least.

Couldn't lay the chalk totally though, because let's face it - it's still Tsonga, so I stuck him in a parlay with Djokovic. Hopefully he can get it done for me too

With Wawrinka's crap ass form on dirt, this should have been a bet for me. Agree that Tsonga isn't likely to get past Federer. He could make it interesting if he can serve big, but he hasn't really been as big an ace machine this year as he's been in the past.

Yeah I think he blew it. Gave back too many breaks and now he'll most likely pay for it.

What a crappy day of tennis for me. Chickened out of a couple of bets that hit and then took "safer" ones that lost. Yuck.

Tsonga's cockiness and excessive celebration wasted lots of energy middle of the match. Hope players learn from this.
