#13Books love Slams where players load up on these ML parlays. Good luck to you guys, but these are tough to hit even when they look like money. I think sticking to 2-3 players max in a parlay yields you a much better shot to win even if the return isn't as high.Comment -

#20Nice job. I bet slams the 1st few days pretty much with only money line parlays on the big players like you do. I know you had awesome results the 1st day, but I would try to mix up your parlays instead of putting all your eggs in one basket. I try to keep those parlays to only 5-7 plays mixing it up with NFL and basketball. You had great results because there was no big upset. Only one was Davydenko losing. But if you had watched the Henin match, she really could have gone down. Losing the 1st set and was 1 point away from being broken at 2-2 in 2nd set Mirza totally screwed up at 40-10 with unforced errors and Henin got on track from there. I learned this the hard way in the French Open when Nadal went down to Soderling as a -1000 favorite.Comment -

i have done this the last couple years and there are rarely major upsets on the mens side early on. the women tend to have more upsets within the top seeds. women like henin, clijsters, the williams sisters, and maybe wozniaki are usually good at the beginning of majors. every1 else is a toss up ........Comment -

#24@beagle25 and jsmith, i don't think that Henin was in serious danger in that match, though she was sloppy in the first set. She is one of the best gamers in tennis on the women's side and all around the strongest mentally tough player in the game men or women imo. She also has the best 1 handed backhand in the game imo and it is a joy to watch her play. She just got off to a slow start as some top players do in the first round of tourneys and at the beginning of the season. The bottom line is she won the match and rather easily too in the final 2 sets. The stats were lopsided in that first set the amount of breaks and winners that her opponent got. Basically her opponent played out of her ass in that first set so you knew that she would not be able to sustain that kind of form as a low level player. She was going for it on nearly every shot. Aside from serving, Mirza played as well as she is capable in that first set and still only one by 1 break due to Henin's sloppy service and slow start. I remember last year i believe Federer was down a set and a break to Andreev before turning it on and playing his game, but people were saying that Fed was going to go down. These top level pros are just that, professionals. Just because they lose a set or a break doesn't mean much to them because they can look past it and take their game to another level whereas a mid level or low level player can't and that is partially why they don't win. Along those lines i can't believe that some folks drop money on mid level and low level players in parlays. If I'm going to drop money on a big parlay and run the risk of potentially losing if 1 person slips up, I'm damn sure going to put my money on the players that are the elite and that i trust and not someone who is a mid level pro falling in the rankings due to their half ass play. At least imo if i have money on say Djokovic for instance and he were to go down i can say i went down with my guns blazing as opposed to throwing money on say Querrey and having him cost me a parlay by just not even showing up for real. That's the stuff that would leave a bad taste in my mouth. I guess at the end of the day whatever happens happens though and anything is possible especially in sports. Aside from Davydenko going down i thought the next highest ranked player under some distress yesterday was Monfils but he pulled it off. One person i can't figure out is Verdasco. I don't know what to make of this guy, one match he will look great and another he will look horrible. I try to stay away from the players that you never know what you are going to get and also any Russian player. If i had to guess I'd say some Russian players are payed off to lose certain matches from what i have seen in recent history. Watch a bunch of matches throughout the year involving Russian tennis players and you will see what I'm talking about. It resembles the Italians from a few years back. I'm not letting my money get dirty. I would have told you to lay off Davydenko if i had seen this thread earlier but i got home late like right before the first matches were starting and had to get my bets in didn't have much time to read or analyze certain matches that i wasn't interested in betting. Good luck tonight everyone.Comment -

#27@easywinners, i totally agree with most of ur comments. that henin backhand was sweet all night long. mirza was blasting it in the beginning and she tried to hang in there. even with that effort, henin shud have won that first set. she had set point on her serve and got broken. i wasnt really worried cuz mirza was unable to hold her own serve. once henin was able get her service game on it was over.
i think an easy rule of thumb for these parlays is to only bet on people that have a legit shot to win the tourney. that is where u want to put most of ur cash. then i will have a riskier parlay but at a minimal amount, as to not affect my profits.Comment -

#28I'm not gonna disagree about putting a chunk of cash on the line with these caliper of players, but I'm just cautioning that shit does happen. I know in the end Henin pulled that match out easily, but there was real danger there of her going down in that match. Who knows what would have happened if Mirza had broken her at 2-2. After she threw away that 40-15 advantage, her game went to hell. I know Henin is one of the strongest women's players on tour. Unlike a lot of the other women on the tour, she's not a head case. But this was her 1st real match coming off of the elbow injury from last year so that's why she was rusty. Her forehand was long all night. This wasn't a case of a top player just starting off slow and then just turning it on.Comment -
