    Verdasco Injury Update
    From another site:

Spanish sports papers today confirm Verdasco will be given local anesthetic before the match to ease the pain. He is quoted as saying "The only thing that is wrong is the nail. It hurts. Everything else is ok", adding "When you're winning the pain becomes more bearable."

Thanks for the update Shari. I think this toe injury might be overblown. I think it'll be a non-factor personally. The question is does he beat Almagro who's been hot as of late?

I'm starting to see the over here as good value.

Uhm, yeah, did he get "injured" when he was down 4:0 in the 4th set? And then he finished the match OK? I am with Payton on this one - this "injury" is overblown. The only thing is, Verdasco might me more tired but I am sure he is well prepared to handle 2 or even 3 5-setters. I think this match is a toss-up.

if verdasco's toe is bothering him i don't think he'l retire. he might try and push through and just finish the match out of pride and amalgro winning in like 3, maybe 4 might be likely, but i'm still playing verdasco. if i had that option i would put $10 or $15 on it.

Well if the injury is overblown as you suggest, then the line is a trap and the value play would be with Almagro. There is no way Verdasco should be sitting where he is right now.

Haha I took him too. I don't think it's a trap the oddsmakers just didn't know how to rate the severity of the injury. Then add the fact that Almagro has been playing so well lately.

Fukk it though, I'm on the Verdasco boat with you guys let's root this one in

Well, I thought all along the lines were wrong and I was actually getting a chance to get Verdasco at a much better price than I expected but I wanted to make sure I found out as much about his injury/fatigue as possible. So I'm going to stick with my bet for better or worse. Hopefully he rested up nicely yesterday and they jack that toe of his with so much dope that he'll be running around like Usain out there for this one.

Verdasco shortened to 1.66 (-150) at my book, which is the shortest of all the UK book prices. Guess the injury is probably not as serious as first thought as my book is usually quite spot on with lines.

Also the European bookmaker Bwin go Verdasco @ 1.59 (-170). Not sure what prices you guys are getting now but i'm guessing if you want to take Verdasco, to snap him up quickly as the price will only drop IMO.

                          Good luck

I've still got him at $1.80 (-125) here in Australia. Mind you this book is notoriously slow to keep up. Have just taken him for 3x and may add more if someone says the line continues to drop elsewhere.

In the space of about 5 minutes, Bwin dropped odds to 7/12 (1.5833/-172.5) then 4/7 (1.5714/-175) then 57/100 (1.57/-176.5) and now is at 11/20 (1.55/-182). Not a huge amount but that was literally in the space of a few minutes.

I really want to put at least a couple of more units on him considering the line hasn't moved here at all.

My book dropped price down to 1.61 (-163.5). All the other UK book prices are remaining pretty consitent so far at 1.72 (-138.5). Now I changed to this book (Bet365) because it offered so much better odds on nearly every sport so for them to have a price that much different to the others is a bit strange to me.
Bet365 is used a lot by Europeans and Bwin is the biggest bookmaker for Europe (I believe). So it seems the Europeans are all betting Verdasco to win this match!!
Bwin price is still @ 1.55/-182.
                                          Any changes where you are??

My little spies told me he was walking around fine yesterday but they couldn't confirm if he practiced or not. Something's telling me to put more money on him.

Exactly. I feel deja vu from Kobe's finger issue. Or 'the elbow' of you know who.
