from what i've seen typically on tennis rules, in a 5 set match, 2 sets must be completed to have the wager graded. thank goodness he threw himself on the sword prior to completion of the 2nd set tie break.

Yes sadly my book doesn't offer handicap early rounds, but at worst I see a push with -4

I've been back and forth in this match. Personally I wouldn't lay the chalk. I think Alona has some value in this match

It definitely should not. My book graded it as a push. How would 6-6 be considered a set complete?

Damn! Laid the benneteau bet with 5 dimes. After 1st set, it's official. If I laid it with the Greek, it would've been a push. Oh well!

Just called Greek and they said from the third round they are going to have men's and woman's set and game props available

i'd be on the phone.........ask them who won the 2nd set, it wasn't completed??? there wasn't a winner in the 2nd by scoring but rather than by retirement.

A "Walk Over Winner" (player concedes before a match) and matches which do not complete the first set are graded no action. Any match concluding after the first set is completed will be graded with the advancing player as the winner.

it's a matter of who / where you play...................

We accept wagers on all major tennis events using straight money lines.

Example:

Lindsay Davenport -140 or risk $140 to Win $100
Maria Sharapova +120 or risk $100 to Win $120

Retirement or Disqualification:
1. Head to Head Matchups:
Two full sets must be completed for wagers to stand. Less than 2 sets completed - all wagers will be considered void.
Example : Nadal 6-3, 4-6, 2-0 (Roddick retired due to injury). All wagers stand. Nadal declared the winner while Roddick is deemed the loser.
Example : Nadal 6-3, 2-0 (Roddick retired due to injury). All wagers considered void.
2. Sets Betting:
If a tennis match is not completed because of a player retirement or disqualification, all Set wagers will be considered void. Such wagers will be canceled and the monies refunded.

I hear you. But if you had been on Robredo you would love the rule.

I know it sucks. I had a couple 1st day matches where I won by retirement after 1 set leading but BetPhoenix doesn't count it. Cost me two wins. It cuts both ways, but I understand how you feel right now and me saying these things probably is neither helping nor endearing me to anyone so I'm gonna just shut up now.

.. some books have a "one point" rule ... some are whole match has to complete ... swings and roundabouts ... win some lose some ... personally i'd prefer a "full match" rule .... if either player retires .. its "no bet" ...

yeah i know. it just chaps my hide! guess for the little time i've been betting tennis i've never been on the losing end due to the 1 set rule! i actually had to go back and check the istomin match against fed when he retired cause that was a cancel. and sure as the world he retired 5-2 in the first. so i guess thats what made me think about the rule!
