Pennetta double bageled Mirza. That match finished ridiculously fast.

Kerber +225 at 4pm ET. That's an off-the-book play for me. Just one that fits the formula I like - where the opponent is coming in (Sanchez) having won the last match, but having scored less points then the loser of the match. Sometimes that is a precursor to a loss in the next round. Not always, but I'd say it happens plenty. Sanchez is the better player, but loose serving especially on the WTA side can lead to competitive matches. Rollin'.

And thank God, I decided against Guccione. Another totally mug performance by a favorite.

Saw some Monfils highlights, dude definitely is moving very well. Some great gets! Kerber had a shot to win the 1st set, but choked a break late and lost 7-5. She's either gonna make Sanchez work hard and get to a 3rd or get rolled, my prediction at least.

Ferrer & Stosur getting beat down in their 1st sets.

Eagles, I didn't see the Monfils match, so I was wondering if he looks good enough to challenge the big boys in this tournament. I love how he plays.

I think he can play with anyone at this point.

He should dispatch Beck, likely setting up a showdown with Ferrer. After that, the main guy in his quarter left would be Nadal.

Now #5 Jankovic is 3-6 6-5 against Shvedova

Looks like I may be going down hard today.

It's very early, but Ferrero and Cilic are already in big trouble.

                            Ferrero is down 4-1.

I think Cilic had been broken immediately as well.

Ferrero is now down a set and Cilic is down 4-2, meaning he's in danger of going down a set.

Almost as embarrassing as what Andreev did.

Big favorites losing in straight sets.

                                    Cilic 4-6 2-6
                                    Ferrero 1-6 3-6 1-2

at least he won a game in the third set, I guess.

Del Potro in a first set tiebreaker with Jurgen Melzer.

Ferrero took the third set 6-4 and leads 3-2 in the fourth

Cilic took the third set 6-0 and is 2-2 in the fourth

JCF & Cilic are going to wind up winning in 5. I'm rooting for Levine so Lou loses more units in the contest and gives more people free $.

Cilic wins in five sets. After winning only six games in the first two sets, he went 6-0 6-3 6-0.

Looks like Ferrero is going down in five, though.

I was thinking about taking the over on games for Ginepri/Almagro. Wish there was a time prop. This one is going to take three hours or more, IMO.

Andy Murray dropped the second set to Paul Capdeville, 3-6.

Murray came back and routed Capdeville in the third and fourth sets.

Longest match of the day (and of the tournament thus far, I think) was Istomin/N.Lapentti. 4:45.

Ginepri/Almagro was another long one. It'll take over 3:30.

Ouanna took the second set from Fernando Gonzalez, but Gonzalez is back in control and up two sets to one.

Ferrer/Acasuso is going to start over three hours late.

edit: Istomin finally won in the fifth set tiebreaker.

The Isner-Roddick epic caused Safina-Kvitova and Blake-Robredo to be postponed a bunch of hours each.

Isner/Roddick is going to take over 3 and a half hours, not surprisingly. Two guys who don't get broken often.

Safina-Kvitova will start in Arthur Ashe stadium at around 9:30-9:45 EDT, followed by Blake-Robredo, which won't begin until after 11.

they deviated from the schedule and put Blake/Robredo on a different court.

Soderling dominated Querrey (the score made is look a lot closer than it was) Look for him to take out Davydenko in the next round. and play Fed in the Quarters. Hopefully he'll be a dog against Davydenko. There also will good value in Stepanek against Djokovic in the next round. Novak hasn't been playing his best tennis and was very fatigued throughout his match. He was two points away from going down 2 sets to 1 against a qualifier.
