I guess you didn't realize that Federer took 10 days off on holiday right before the tourney, and didn't have the same preparation as he did for Wimbledon and Australia. I bet the field against Federer at -220 before the tourney started. A steal, he struggled throughout the whole tourney.

Federer didn't throw the game. Del Potro is no slouch. He's been plaqued by injuries for much of his career. Don't forget Del Potro beat Federer in the finals of the 2009 US Open.
I watched the entire game. Fed didn't throw the game away. Why would he anyways?
