I'm happy you won your bet(s). But having a few bad results in 2017 at the worst time doesn't make someone a quitter. There's only one #1, proving that it's extremely difficult to achieve.

Regarding Sharapova, her stats were virtually identical to previous matches against Halep. Stats don't indicate that she was "rusty". She was a slim 10 game points better (and 1, and only 1, break attempt better in the 3rd set).
