    Monfils V roddick
Went big on murray yesterday and now looking on this one.
First of this play by monfils against melzer which is possibly the best defensive play ever

Everyone knows the line is great on monfils considering that this is clay and his opponent is Roddick. The reason line is so high(1.74 on cris) is due to monfils bad knee.Otherwise this would;ve been somewhere around 1.50 i think. But he showed no signs of the injury in his last game and he said it himself in the post-match interview that there is "zero" problem with his knee.

I saw roddick's game against gicquel and although he won in straight sets he wasn't hitting outright winners. To beat great defenders like monfils nadal one needs to take his chances and go for total offense like soderling did and i don't think roddick has that punch in his strokes on clay.

    1-monfils' defense
    2-roddick on "CLAY"
    3-less injury concern for monfils
4-It will not be played on center court but still 10k people wud back monfils
5-H2h on clay favouring monfils 2-0

I'm looking to take a big shot on that one.Any advice?

Think it's definitely the better side here. For all of the talk of Andy's improvement on the surface, he hasn't played anyone worth a crap at RG this year. I definitely think it will be a battle, but Monfils seems healthy and when he is, he's dangerous. I don't know what the # of games is for this one from a betting standpoint, but I don't see this being less than 4 sets and if Roddick's serve is cooking, should be 6-4, 7-5, 7-6 sets being played.

I'm wondering why Roddick being ranked higher in the tourny is not favored? Or more towards a pk?

              Monfils defence > Roddick's offense
Plus roddick's aim with his strokes is to clear the net and not to target the baseline. That's why he has been making lesser UE and also less winners. This will allow monfils more than enough time to chase roddicks shot down which is something he loves.

Upset of the century that this match gets done today. I would have put astronomical odds on this one getting suspended. Way to go on Monfils!

so many chances for Roddick to break, what the hell was wrong with him. More of a mental block than a physical one.

Read this article about James Blake's thoughts on US players in the French Open. He speaks for himself, but does generalize that most Americans play for Wimbledon and the US Open obviously and don't give a shit about the one major on clay.

Price will be interesting. Federer beat him at the French last year and on clay in Monte Carlo last year. Be interested to see if books bang Monfils' tag down and hope to prey on the people who will see that he crushed Roddick and automatically roll money onto Monfils as a result. Different players at this point obviously from last year. I'm guessing the Federer name will sap out any choice of taking him straight up at a decent price.

                            I might leave this one.
Heard an NBA commentator saying good offence beats good defence 9 outta 10 times which sounds wise.
Plus monfils wont be the underdog anymore cos of his dominance today and federer's struggles against haas.
                            Very difficult to predict.

Monfils will still be the underdog on price, no doubt about that. Federer's name alone and track record commands the favorite tag against anyone on this court not named Nadal.

Yes true i meant he wont be as big a dog as he would've been if the recent upsets hadn't happened.
