#2Anybody saw Vickery-Mertens match?. One game played and both players tried to get retirement in first... first Mertens asked for trainer and Vickery was ready to play but when she saw trainer coming then asked for trainer herself and retired quickly before Mertens could... never seen anything like that before

#5Sorry for the ignorant question, but why do players retire? Because of injury? If one does retire how does that effect the bet?Comment -

#6Aussie Open qualifying starts in two days, both players would probably rather be preparing for that instead of this small tournament. Reading this would make me mad as a gambler if one set was played, but it isn't a big deal since 99% of bets on this match would've been voided.Comment -

#7Why would they even play this tournament knowing they want to try and qualify for the Aussie open then? Makes no senseComment -

#8It depends on where you play. Most sites (5dimes for example) have one set rules, so if one set is completed in the match, then the moneyline will count. I'm pretty sure totals and spreads are void in retirements. For some sites, like bookmaker, the entire match has to be completed for action.Originally posted by rgrant2214Sorry for the ignorant question, but why do players retire? Because of injury? Players can retire for any reason. Sometimes they suffer from legitimate injuries, other times they can't be bothered to finish the match. There's also the fixing element to it. You also see a lot of retirements before the grand slams, as that's when players want to be at their best, physically.Comment -
