    Tennis 1st set
    Hi,

What is the reason why for the same Money Line, 1st set prices on the favorite are shorter on best of 3 sets matches than on 5 best of sets matches ?

    thanks

Nobody gave me feedback, so seems none of you knows. After thinking a bit the answer actually is quite easy:

That's because to win a match in a best of 5 sets you need to win 3 sets. So, assuming Pa is the chance of winning a set, on a 3 sets match to win by 2-0 you get Pa^2 while on a 5 sets you need Pa^3 for a 3-0.

It's very easy for the better player to come out slow and sluggish and give the 1st set away, then turn it on and comeback and win.
The first set is ALWAYS the lesser plays best chance to steal/win one.
The later the match goes, the more favorable it can be for the more experienced/better player with pressure points and environments etc also.
