2. go forward 26 days on the calendar, circle that day and the next 4 days as well...write "explanation for McHale" over this five-day period...

most blatant example of this in my memory is A.Radwanska...

a few years ago at the AO (the year Na won)...she played a crisp beautiful game to dismantle Aza in the quarters...a total clinic...looked as if David Ferrer was playing her points for her...

the very next day, in the semis she looked and played like a lump of boiled spinach against Cibulkova...i remember joking at the time, that instead of looking like David Ferrer was playing her points for her, it seems like she'd been gang-raped by Karlovic, Raonic, and Isner for 20 hours straight since the quarters ended, right up until match time...absolutely not the same person...not just an "on her game/off her game" (which is basically a timing thing which can come and go and make you look good/bad in waves or for a full match, even with unchanged fitness level)...no, it was as if she was dehydrated and didn't want to be there...she had no energy and got straight-setted, i think by the energizer munchkin...only thing i can attribute to it, is a bad monthtly "visit"

it's always amazed me that, outside of pure jest, no-one ever mentions this very-real performance-sapping intangible
