Hewitt did well enough to win Newport last year, but the competition looks a little stiffer in this 500 level tournament. I think his best days are far, far behind him though. His 2015 is off to a pretty inauspicious start, winning just one match overall. I think KA's serve should be enough to see him past.
As far as Raonic's recent surgery goes, he has had more than enough time to recover from the operation itself (to relieve a nerve impingement) and undergo a good amount of PT with the time off from the French. I'm more concerned with his motivation, as usual, versus that of the hometown hero Brit. At least it's not a 250 who gives an eff level tournament.Comment -

never confident with players coming back from injuries. they tend to play tentatively trying not to reinjure themselves. with wimbledon around the corner, im expecting raonic to be just easing back into it rather than going full out during this tournament.
hewitt is in horrid form but he is the king of grass.

All very true. Raonic may just be looking to get his feet wet, no pun intended, but if he feels no setbacks I would expect his regained confidence to see him through to the 2nd round at least.
KA about to lose tie-break to Hewitt... can't really say much about that. If you told me this match would go to tie-break each set I'd still expect KA to prevail but it seems I never do well betting this guy.Comment -
