Not the worst pick in the world. No one gave him a chance in each of the last two rounds and he came through. Needs a quick start and can't afford to be behind in this one. If he plays ahead, he'll have the crowd at a fever pitch the whole way and Wawrinka can let hostile crowds get under his skin at times. If Wawrinka gets out fast to a lead though, I don't think Tsonga is going to come back.

These two have met twice in the French Open in 2011 and 2012 and both times it went 5 sets with each winning once.
Matches went 51 and 53 games. Jo-Willy won the first two sets both matches.

stan is better now, and tsonga is worse
stan made $1.7 million combined in 2011/2012... tsonga made 0ver $5 mill in the same time span
current form is what is important not matches from 2012

Tsonga made mincemeat out of Berdych and plays well in front of his countrymen.
If you read what was said, there was no mention of who will win, but points to a large quantity of games being played.

implying that there will be a large amount of games played is obviously the same thing as backing tsonga considering he is the under dog (you're basically betting AGAINST stan winning convincingly) ... he made mincemeat out of berdych though? that's hardly the word I'd use even if I used that word at all. though I might say stan made mincemeat out of roger federer (a significantly BETTER player than berdych) who he beat in straight sets without being broken- winning 88% of his first service points
regardless 2012 matches are still irrelevant

just saw wawa lose to tatsuma ito couple months ago.
could easily say federer didn't show up either. its easy to discredit tsonga's wins but they were legit. even after hiroshima 'showed up' tsonga still won.

^^ Wawrinka has won 74% of his matches as the favourite in the past 2 years, whereas Berdych is at 84%. Wawrinka's style of play is hit and miss. He will cause more upsets but at the same time, he will lose more often against worse opponents.
There is zero value on Wawrinka, in my opinion. Can't ever see why anyone would play him other then when he is the underdog.

If you watched the match, I don't see how you make the argument that Federer didn't show up. He was overmatched. "Hiroshima" looked like his buddy Ito out there against Tsonga.
lol ok sorry 9 months ago. what about haase at indian wells? or mannarino in miami LMAO
nishikori didn't look bad at all after the ceiling caved in.

Never trust Stan in a tiebreaker ? The guy is now 14-7 in tiebreakers easily one of the better records on tour.

Actually he's 5-4 in the last 3 months (lost to dimitrov, berlocq and mannarino (twice)) and not all of the tiebreaks are at this level. That's my motto since that 2014 US open QF vs Nishikori.. You can dig up the thread and see how many people were biting their nails. I also don't trust him if he does not start the set serving either.

This match may go 2-1 Tsonga's favor and still go the distance.

3 out of 3 so far:
-over 38.5 hits
-2nd set Tsonga hits
-3rd set Wawrinka hits
