More impressive wins this tourney, never dropped a set whilst healthy to Grigor (presumably), crowd support.

    Why not?

    Assuming a book voids retirements.

i thought he had the crowd fine vs Dolgo. Not that it matters.
he's past Fed now.. so what are we supposed to say, he's not disciplined
enough to beat Dimitrov after just beating Fed ?
best to just stfu if you're gonna dis him now.
Still, Grigor has beaten Vavrinka, Foghead and Verdasco
so he also deserves backing. Thus, the pickem line.

One thing I did catch was Stan's piss-poor play, hence why I called Grigor's wins less impressive (Foghat also does not qualify as impressive in my eyes). I'll also give Monf a slight surface advantage.

Head to head wise players that beat a top 5 seed are horrendous the match after. Sets won wise it had also been a struggle. It makes sense because they put a lot of energy into causing the upset then can't play at that level the match after. Dont know why, there are probably a few other factors like concentration etc. But then again you don't want to back a player playing with confidence. But confidence and concentration are two different mental aspects.
I've looked into this actually earlier and I find it fascinating. Even if you use the sample size of Grand Slams and Masters 1000 its:
Seppi lost to Kyrgios after beating Federer (2) - Aus Open
Berdych lost to Murray after beating Nadal (3) - Aus Open
Lopez lost to Murray after beating Nishikori (5) - Indian Wells
Raonic lost to Federer after beating Nadal (4) - Indian Wells
Verdasco lost to Monaco after beating Nadal (2) - Miami
Isner lost to Djokovic after beating Nishikori (4) - Miami
Isner BEAT Nishkori after beating Raonic (5) - Miami
So it's a 1-7 strike rate. And that's a home masters for Isner so perhaps take that into account a little...
Overs looks like it could be a play. Theyve had some close encounters (lets ignore Bucharest)

In other words tread with caution!

Fed didnt really want to win, trust me, he tried to do it against Tsonga last year but Tsonga was tanking also and wanted to lose more.

Nice call on Monfils. Easy $. Dimitrov is a poor man's Fed. Of course it would be easier today for the Frenchman.

I was all over Monfils last night, not a huge play but at +100 I had to take a shot against baby Federer.. Monfils just has that look like he cares & when he does he can be really tough to beat - we all know that. Would be fun to see the serious Monfils all the time, he always had the talent to be in the top 10 longer than what he was.. Still, I woke up to see he destroys Dimitrov, lol, no surprise there imo

Now I have no idea how he will go against Berdych, who hasnf had the most roughest of draws.
