I have watched him a lot and really like his game. Great serving and powerful groundstrokes. The key for Jared is going to be consistency.

Yes... he is very inconsistent. Inconsistency can not be cured. I do not think he will be anything big.

he's still 18 and if anything that just means more untapped potential. I love donaldson, we were born in the same city. He has all the tools to be at least better than jack sock

I really shouldn't have to point this out (f*ck my life), but:

He's young. Maturity may cure inconsistency.

            There you go. You're welcome.

What Jared has is not an inconsistency just because of being young and not experienced. Watch his up-downs in his games.
Of course through years this may go down to certain levels never go completely, but we are talking coming next big thing.
Next big thing is the one who can play consistently especially when he is under pressure.
Maybe i didnt understand what he meant by next big thing. If you mean someone like Jack Sock possibly he may be better. as Brodie here mentioned.
IMHO currently there is no big thing American men tennis

Ok, then we are perhaps just disagreeing on its chances of improvement with age and experience (the two are separate, although intertwined).

I watched Jack Sock in Japan last year. I think he has the most devastating forehand in tennis. Remember, Sock just finished school last year. Up until Jan 2014, Tennis was not a priority. what Sock lacks is mental toughness... If he can keep his emotions in check, he will be Top 20 one day.
