How does this guy lose matches? He's 6'11", has a killer serve and the same routine every point....come to the net....really tough to get it over or around him. How is this guy not a top tier player? What am i missing?

#2he's almost 36 years old. his highest ranking is 14th . he has 6 titles. (1 is doubles)
currently ranks 30th. the problem for him is serving is only half the game, so he
struggles against the elite players with a top return game.
at 6'11", the low ball and cross-court volley games are struggles.
mobility and agility are impeded by his frame.Comment -

#3He's completely a one trick pony...and if he's facing someone who has any semblance of a good return game, he gets taken out.
And he stinks when returning serve...so basically his goal each match is to play for the tiebreak and hope someone messes up.
I think his hold % on serve is one of the highest, if not the highest in ATP historyComment -

#4He doesn't have a backhand (poor slices only), is a poor returner (and is nothing special at groundstrokes) - and the top guys like Federer and Nadal are beasts. They have all the patience in the world, they wait for their moment, they take those 2 or 3 points that make the difference and decide the set. That's the reason IMO.Comment -

#6But isn't holding serve a huge part of the game? Even is someone has a good return game...i just don't get it. First time Ive watched him play as Im newer to tennis wagering.Comment -

#7It is a huge part of the game; that's why he is able to compete at this level. As soon as he plays someone who is actually good, however, his flaws are made very clear.Comment -

#8He has only one shot, serve and come to net....I remember watching one game last year vs Cilic....He just lost one point on serve in a set and lost the set roflComment -

This is the match I am talking about, he has hit 44 aces in the match, he won 28 out of 29 points on serve in first set, yet lost the setComment -

#13There's a reason why he's +595 to win the match tomorrow. lol
Federer is 11-1 against him all time, and it just goes to what we've all been saying...his one awesome tool can get him by most players, but the upper echelon guys routinely beat himComment -
