I don't see how Cornet beats Serena with that serve but some how, she has done it a few times now which is remarkable.

I think Serena has finally hit form again and is winning not just grandslams now. Also Cornet despite making the finals her last tournament, looked terrible. She rarely held serve against any of her opponents. Would say Serena wins easy but then again, would've said the same thing about their last 2 encounters and see how that turned out.

"tina turner stuffed into a tinker-bell costume" driven into exhaustion by "manic-depressive french chick with no serve"...

i try to laugh...but i'm pissed off that thunder-thighs wouldn't complete the set...i had cornet at +604 (at pinnacle, a "one complete set" book)...faak

she was leading 6-5 serving, if she had completed the set she would have completed the match probably and won.

I considered it last night, but pinnacle had better than 6/1 and my books had +500 to +525, not worth it

I disagree. She could've finished out the set and then decided she couldn't go any longer. Doubtful she was finishing out the match, but she could've played another game (plus tiebreak if necessary).

absolutely.. if Serena really had a viral illness she wouldn't have played at all. Cornet has
beaten her twice and 6-5 is anyone's game, nevermind match.. she didn't want the
embarassment if she lost a first round. plain and simple I bet she didn't want to be there
and whiffed smoke and bailed.. no skin of her back and no tough questions because
she "didn't lose". can't say I blame her, she doesn't owe anyone anything... but it was
                            a little unsportsman-like. That's what you can do if you're a diva.

thanks to the above two posts for responding to the obtuse with the obvious...

anyone who had the balls/foresight to put even a splash on cornet at a "one set required" book has the right to be pissed at thunder-thighs' posturing

i already had cornet+6, and decided shortly before match-time to put a unit on the ML (and deliberately chose pinny over 365 just in case the need for such a "face saving" exit developed)...but no way in hell did i think she'd be so petty as to puss out before even finishing the set...

I did cornet ml, +games, and over for a contest

kinda glad I didn't bet on her because I'd be pretty pissed at not getting the money

that was obviously going to go over, for one

you know I also had Cornet +6 and posted it in my thread.
along with Coco V +3 and ML ... cancelled instead of winning
because of Janko retired when Coco was up 4-1...

now I'm getting pissed about it too... but they are both playing
tonight... so no time to whine.

speaking of cornet, current -250-ish is not a bad price against flipper...especially considering she's 3-0 matches/6-0 sets (2014-h2h) against the homely belgian

Ended up taking her (got up to -270 for me) and had a minor scare. I wasn't too concerned with the second set as you could clearly see she said penetrate it when down by three games, but the early 3-1 deficit had me worried in the third.

                                      All good!
