BTW, Matt, you were right about how live betting lines can tip you on who the books think will win. Per your advice I waited for Djoker to take the first set, before hedging. But once he won the 1st set (and even though he was something like 11-1 in matches against Nadal where he won the 1st set) Nadal was only trading at +110 to +120. To me, that seemed rather low, so I chose to ride it out, hoping to get lucky (and Nole certainly had some chances in the 2nd set but he played terrible). I think the books knew more about Djoker's stomach ailment than any of us did, and that's why the line (after the first set) was begging for Djoker money (while NBC kept flashing the stat that Djoker is virtual lock once he wins the first set against Nadal as well as others). Anyway, I lost a lot of money but luckily won it all back with the Heat. I still believe that if Djoker was healthy he would have won this thing. But I seem to be in the minority.

^ its not the books. books set a line after each set based on what they think and it changes within seconds with books readjusting with the publics bets and aligning with other bookies. lines dont shift drastically after one set in a final of a 5 setters typically regardless.

the line was also low after the first set cause everyone was pounding nadal prematch and i would assume also after the first set. books rarely kno more then the public does and they dont need to. they make millions of profit each year off margins so all they need to do is adjust lines as people bet and they win.

You are mostly correct but, I have noticed this in 3 set matches mostly....... I knew djoker had a stomach problem so I gave him 1 set to win. After set one, djoker barely went up on the ML like poet mentioned. After Nadal went and tied the sets at 1-1 the price on Nadal was rediculous.

Lol, let me admit it, i actually placed a small bet on Duckworth upon seeing this thread, was raging when he got bagelled in the first set. Amazing comeback, i would say.
