Playing on all huge courts with tons of space unlike small courts I am sure helps.

wonder why Nadal struggle to Ferrer, Murray and Djokovic in Monte Carlo/Roma, yet at the French open he eats them ? part of the answer IMO

Rome/Madrid/Monte Carlo have used the same Dunlop ball for the last five seasons. During that time Nadal won 9 of the 15 clay masters, and made the final in four of the others, so he's not exactly struggling with it. For comparison, he won 10 of the previous 15, with Head/Penn balls, when he was younger and fitter.
He's just getting old, and focusing his efforts on the slams. Federer and Murray do the same, it's only Djokovic that tries to win everything.
