I agree with making Corndawg the dawg being f*cked up, but:

1. She's French.
2. She can't serve
3. She has had issues this week.

I'll admit I got that sub 1.50 prediction well wrong. I did however make it during the first set and both were making a ton of errors on return at that point. Didn't expect her to be so strong mentally in the second set.

Cornet has been pretty good this year. All her losses are to decent players. She's a fighter, a good defender, and can make changes to her game on the run.

Each of Giorgi's opponents have been terrible! Piter. Vinci who has barely won a match all year. Peer lol. And Navarro was consistent all the way through her match but basically hit a lot of loopy balls and asked Giorgi the question - in which she delivered by hitting accurate winners when it mattered.

Giorgi will play her usual game tonight. Go for winners. There's no plan B. But this is a Final, and I've witnessed way too many players like her with little margin completely crumble in their first final. Plus she has the added pressure as I mentioned above.

I've been impressed by Cornet throughout the year. She has grinded out a lot of matches by staying strong and playing it point by point.

Anyway we'll find out soon enough. I'm a big fan of Giorgi though. My wallet doesn't want her to win.. but I'll take a loss better than usual.

No way, I can't stand her either haha!

My two biggest gripes:

-She cheats. Tries to influence linesmen by sticking her little finger out just as balls land in.
-She chews with her mouth open. Yuck! Is that a French thing?

*Edit. I've had a few beers so didn't notice the "swindler" comment. Anyway it's Cornet that I'm not a fan of lol. Didn't stop me backing her either.

IDK about this one. Cornet just can't contend with the power of Giorgi. If she keeps doing what she's done all week Corndawg should have nothing on her, and struggle to hold every serve.

I agree. Giorgi is inconsistent but has been doing far too fine recently for me not to back her.

Btw in their Australian Open match Giorgi should have won, she outplayed Cornet in set 2 and set 3. But she made over 80 unforced errors against something like 27 for Alize.

I'm at work now, hope it goes to 3 sets, so I can see set 3 at home.

French or not, Cornet is a big fighter and has proven that she is able to win long, tough matches (Giorgi, Suarez Navarro, Aga). Her only loss to a clearly inferior opponent in the last few months (Voegele) was when she had a flu.

I was considering the over here but I am afraid to bet overs on WTA when I consider the two players to be of relatively equal skill. In the women's game, service is no big advantage and you often can't be sure one of them two won't be playing some poor tennis.

Got out @ 1.11 when 30-0. Glad I did even though she held to love lol.

Was thinking "never again"! But I still think it was an ok bet and much of the reasoning behind it eventuated.

Her Dad has many dodgy "dishonoured" deals with investors who have been very public about not being paid by the Giorgi's. A story of deceit, lies, and denial.
