I have very high opinion of You as a tennis bettor. You know a lot about the sport and your picks are mostly spot on. Still, I think you ar emaking a mistake with Stephens in this situation. Her attitude stinks on court and that is even on higher level, on such small tournaments, like this one in Charleston. She has problems to motivate herself often and looks like she doesn't even care if she wins or looses. And even if she does get herself motivated here, Svitolina is one talented girl... I would stay away from this one, but that is just my oppinion. Good luck anyway!

I bet on and against Stephens quite a bit over the last few years and know the spots when to take her and when to stay away. Svitolina is talented but does not move on clay the same as she does on hardcourts. She's a totally different player on clay.

Stephens has good speed and can move on clay quite effectively. Svitolina doesnt have a good second serve and gets in trouble a lot from players that have powerful strokes like Sloane's . This is a good matchup for Stephens. Svitolina might keep it close but I dont believe she'll take two sets from Stephens.

You made few compeling points. I like this one about the movement especially... I haven't seen Svitolina on clay yet, so I can't comment on that. I only know that key to the good movement on clay, is if the player knows how to slide effectively into the shots. I don't know if any of these two girls are very comfortable with that...

Anyway, I was not challenging the match up here, in first place. Match up could be great for Stephens, but it will all come down to whether she wants to play here, or not. And from what I saw so far from her, on smaller tournaments, I am not willing to take that risk at this price.

But for Vesnina I agree. I had her in the first round. She loves this tournament and plays really good here. Cetkovska very beatable opponent...

Watched Svitolina against dominguez Lino on clay, she is poor. As stated above, it is all about if Stephens wants to play, which is not seen often in 2014. Good luck

It seems like she is figuring clay out, maybe. I have not obviously seen her on clay, but last year she was improving as the clay season progressed. Yeah, Svitolina is like a poor man's Halep right now, which means she is pretty awesome: might get to top 20 by the end of the year.

You were right HoneyBadger. Stephens sucked roosters today, no motivation at all. Svitolina played an excellent match. She's become the the current youngest and highest ranked player in the WTA. Hats off to her progress this year.

Going to make one more play in tennis and will have a play on Oakland Athletics in baseball later.
