never seen wawrinka be anything but humble. he even said after beating djokovic that djokovic was the better player. of course he will celebrate he won a grand slam probably for the first and last time of his career. do you know what that means to these guys and gals?

It wasn't the best final but it was definitely full of drama! Stan was playing brilliantly even before Rafa hurt his back so I wish we could've had a normal match to see if that would've continued. It's worth it to watch for the first set alone I think

This is the same guy who played through his match with Ferrer and could barely walk. He's an ass picker but I'm pretty sure he's never retired at a Slam and would be amongst the lowest for retiring at all. ETA I forgot about against Murray but I think that's it. On phone though so can't check.

You may be right. But that reminded me of the Ferrer match which he was winning. He could've broken his foot or much worse and yet he carried on. When he was booed and started to cry I believed him. Then again I also thought Tomic was full of it and look what's happening with him now so maybe I'm not the best judge.

And how do you think Stan will go with a guy he's never won a set off previously? Fed is a guy who has the history with him and won some of his points purely based on memory and instinct alone.

Nadal isn't invincible but in this particular situation I honestly can't see why anyone would take him to win this match. Again coming from someone who JJ erroneously said gets too emotional about players.

If I want any player to win it's Stan. No way though. That blisters stuff is rubbish just like I said in the other thread. What else is going to have changed so he can beat Nadal or even come close? His serve is amazing and yet Rafa has the best defense in the game, better even than Murray's at this point. So then what? He might beat him in a tiebreak but that's a big if. I think Rafa is going to nail him. That's my thoughts at this point at least.

Did they show you his iv with Courier on your broadcast? He was saying that as soon as they started to play again he could see how bad it was. Really put him in a bad spot as you're right, they're good friends. But it could've just as easily been Stan... that's the scary thing about betting on tennis. No teammates to come to the rescue. Can't believe he is now the new Swiss #1. First time in something like 680+ weeks they said. Never thought I'd see Fed lose that title until he retired. Very very happy for him.

haha throw away!! At least you're quoting me and not making up rubbish so I'll cop it gladly. As I said that night I'd be very happy to see Stan win and I've also said repeatedly there's a reason I make my cash (if any) in the early rounds and then don't bet much if at all from the QFs on. I just give my opinions like anyone else and hope my threads encourage the 4x/year tennis watchers to post more in the Tennis Forum outside of Slams. I LOVE seeing dogs win so I'm ecstatic some people made cash and Nadal didn't retire. I'll happily eat the $20 loss on my end.

I bet $20 on him live at +100 about 10 seconds before he clutched his back. I posted that in here! Obviously it sucks to lose any amount of money but I don't regret it. I said that was my strategy from the beginning...if Nadal's price improves to a decent amount, take it. I'm not going to take a dog at $3 cheaper than I could've had him prematch.
