push back to 5pm local time, at least courts have lights so they can play at night

Tournament director just said that matches won't resume until at least 5pm which is 2hrs from now.

big difference from what people were saying. That can really affect matches, a long break.

Yeah I was wondering why people were saying only an hour or so. Doesn't make sense for Melbourne. Unless a cool front comes in, temperatures here increase as the day goes on so 3 to 5pm are usually the hottest parts of the day unlike N. America where it peaks between 12-2. I honestly don't think they'll even resume at 5 but he said that's the earliest they're aiming for right now.

I think play at Hisense is starting soon. I think they had to have time to cloee the roof there after the Tsonga match and then filter the air in.

2am ET the earliest the outer courts will start according to the latest. Laver & Hisense continue.Margaret Court and a couple of the Show Courts with maybe a couple hundred people just sitting around in each. All are now fully in the shade.

I'm a little baffled while they are delaying longer. They made these players suffer in worse conditions the last two days.

I think all the courts have lights. They have cancelled it looks like anything doubles related that was listed as the last match on a court for the day. I think they are going to do their damnedest to get all the singles matches in no matter how late it ends.

I didn't look at the order of play for the night time but I'm pretty sure they got all the matches in. The Kyrgios/Paire match ended at 1:40am and the DelPo match finished 20 minutes before that. I'm pretty sure Courier said it was any scheduled doubles matches that got held over until tomorrow.
