A new thread with a cocky pick, with no reason and a LOCK drop.
So sad.
Anyway, my take.
My own personal opinion is this is the biggest coin toss ever and whilst it's quite black and white who the surface favours more, I don't particularly believe Nishikori is that much better on slow hard than faster hard. Some matches are just too tough to call and are better left alone in my view and this is one of them. Nishikori is also defensively a better mover than Dimitrov, so we'll have to see. Gun to head, I'd say Nishikori, but respect the way Cilic's been serving.

No way man. The forehand of Cilic on the fastest hardcourt surface of the year should destroy nishikori. Nishikori great on average to slow hard court surface. Cilic should be -200 here. I wouldn't be suprised to see Cilic win in 2 sets

Nah. I've gotta disagree with you man. Infact, Cilic's severe weakness and shot to always target, his absolute entire career up till now has always been his forehand. Unless he's done some serious surgeory on that shot, it's not as good as you make out. It's not a good rally ball, or that much of a great weapon either.
Cilic's weapon has always been his backhand. Read anywhere you want, that;s why he has a good record against lefties. He has good reach, big serve (With a lot of variety) and a very good backhand. The forehand is mediocre though, no idea why you single that out, may be because the general strength of most player's is their forehand? This is not the fastest of the year either, it's very fast and faster than last year and years before, as they have admitted to speeding it up, but Cincinatti is officially the fastest surface.
You took Lopez on that fastest court basis, I think you're reading too much into that. Baffles me how you're as confident as this tbh Matt. lol Very 50/50, extremely 50/50... not tocuhing it with the longest pole on earth.
All I am saying is is if you told me me, my parents and my entire family tree would be murdered if I was wrong in calling the winner. I would go Nishikori. Nishikori is not average, had an injury hit season last year but he had a 500 atp level tournament win also. He's an incredible athlete, very economical mover, really good preparation before every stroke giving him tones of time to play the ball and counter attacks so well. Nishi's forehand is a wepaon too.

Hmmm, I c your point. I just feel nishikori so serve is weak so Cilic should be able to break him. Is Cilic serving well? Seems like the big adjustment cost him the first set

His serve is only thing keeping him alive. Dimitrov made Cilic's serve look like Raonic's though, because returning serve is not Dimitrov's best asset IMO. Player's with single handed backhands find serves harder to defend, generally speaking. Nishikori has much better return, so Cilic's serve doesn't look as great now.
Yeah, Nishi's serve isn't good enough, he'd be top 10 though if he had a better serve. At 5,10 you can only go so far though. It's got good variety though.
Cilic's big adjustment on his serve is too minor a technical change for me to see what this adjustment actually is. I may tweet Goran asking. lol

Cilic is such a boring servemachine. Nishikori would be a top 5 player if he had a better serve, no joke.

Wouldn't really say it would be incredibly lucky for Cilic to win...he's had 12 break chances.

...and howmany bps did Nishikori have^, you didn't count them? Nishi's been the better player, just clutch serving from Marin.

1/12 bps nishi
1/12 bps cilic
lol and Nishi doesn't have the big serve. Shows you who wins when the rallies go longer than 3 shots.

Credit to the Jap there. Most player's would have tanked it after all those missed chances at 5-5.

What a snoozefest. Cilic can make matches even involving the most slickest of tennis player's, boring.

When Nishikori is hot, boy.
I am praying, praying Hewitt gets given respect by the bookies. Murdering Nishi's odds.
