Well if Groth-Paes can finish yesterday's parlay, I'll be feeling pretty good about the end of the week. Pretty ho-hum for the week, but that's kinda how I felt about this tournament. Hopefully Gascan & Raonic move through for at least a passable Final.
Donald Young must have gotten an Obama boost in DC.

ATP Rogers Cup Mini-View Top seed Djokovic is 25-4 all-time at this event and won it two of the last three years. Federer is 27-8 win two titles, the last coming in 2006. Andy Murray is also a dual Champ in 2009 & 2010, but has done little here since then and is seeded 8th this week. Milos Raonic was a finalist in 2013 and Gasquet has made two Finals. Watch both of them this week. This event plays similar to a Grand Slam with Djokovic, Nadal, Murray & Federer winning titles here in ten straight years.. The last time one of those four did not win the title at the Rogers Cup was 2003 when Andy Roddick won.
Seeded Upset Alert Seeds have lost at least three times in their 1st matches of the Rogers Cup since 2010 with five seeds dropping each of the last two years. Three seeds who seem prone to a potential early loss are David Ferrer, Andy Murray & Fabio Fognini. Ferrer could have the easiest draw with Mahut or Russell, but he's been bad at this tournament. Murray may have the toughest task as Giraldo or Kyrgios will be in his way. The young Aussie would be very tough on this surface. Fognini faces Youzhny. Neither puts a lot of trust out there right now, but the surface should suit the Russian slightly better. More Upsets (1st Round)
Kyrgios over Giraldo
Thiem over Simon
Schnur over Seppi
All have their drawbacks, but all also have something to like. Kyrgios has to show he can handle the transition from grass to hard courts + the success that has come his way. Thiem has a quick turnaround from losing in Kitzbuhel and the surface switch, but goes against Simon who has lost his 1st-up at the Rogers Cup four straight years. Schnur is a Canadian qualifer who had never made a main draw before this tournament. Seppi has been in below average form most of the year and this is a poor surface mostly for him. If Schnur can keep his head, he might pull off his 1st main draw win.
1st Round Qualifiers to Watch Qualifiers don't have a great track record in the last three years here at just 5-11 in the 1st round against non-qualifiers. Still, some match-ups to watch in the 1st round that could yield some profit.
Tomic vs. Karlovic The Aussie is 3-0 vs. Karlovic, including a three set win in the Bogota Final to capture that tournament's title. If the price is right, I'd look to Tomic (gulp)
Paire vs. Falla Never one to be trusted, Paire has shown some signs of life in recent weeks. His serve looks better and he pumped 17 aces in one of his qualifying matches. Falla generally is a not a PTP-er this time of the year on this surface, so if you can stomach it - Paire should be a solid shot in round one although it might be pricier than you want to take. **Double gulp
Futures Dimitrov +1500
Raonic +1200
Federer +350
Dimitrov is one I would probably invest small on and perhaps wait to see his fitness level in his 1st match coming off the flu. Still, if he's fit - he is in Wawrinka's quarter and has an easier path to the quarters. He simply needs to prove health and the ability to play top tennis during this swing. Raonic looked solid in DC and has a draw that could lend him to another deep run at the Rogers Cup in front of the home fans. Federer will have to work through some rust potentially, but his draw looks very nice with John Isner maybe being his toughest out in getting to the semis. Djokovic is too short for me @ +120even if he looks a pretty good bet to be in the Final.

I'm liking Grigor's draw myself, but I'm just concerned about what kind of condition he will be in. I'm liking Lopez +150 over Bautista, Stepanek +110 over Monfils, and Istomin +245 over Cilic for tomorrow. I do like Kyrgios +115 over Giraldo as well. This really is a great time for tennis.

Yeah I definitely would not invest on a Dimitrov future until after you see him play a match. Honestly, you could do that with all three guys and not lose a ton on price. Sometimes it's well worth it to watch a match and maybe lose +200+300 off a +1500 future

Prices seem fair on Paire at -170 and Tomic at -140. Shitfest of the 1st round is Young vs. Dancevic. Seems like the perfect spot for Young to suck, but you could surround Dancevic with Victoria Secret models and ask me to back him by fukking my way to the middle like a sexual tootsie pop ... and I would pass.

like N Kyrgios over Giraldo, hoping his serves will win him the match.
how do you think cilic will go against istomin, seems to me istomin been off
the ball lately. might also go on the aussies hewitt against benneteau, he didnt
seem that great while hewitt stayed with raonic. might also tial on tomic, can
never trust that guy though.

Stay away from the Donald. He kept his cool and knew his place cause he was playing much better players all week. If Dance can gain any traction, Donald's sense of entitlement might show back up and he will blow the match.

Anyone who bets either side of that match is nuts. I'm sure Dancevic will get action just because it's a Canadian playing in Canada angle which is terrible. Watching him quit last week was disgusting, so I could care less if he puts his big boy shoes on and rolls. He's just as big a chance to get double bageled with what we saw last week.
