Stephens at -160 is a good bet vs Hampton
I didnt like Stephens at -200 when this line was released but now that its gone down to -160, I think there is some good value here. Both players have good pace and power but I think Stephens is a tadbit more consistent than Hampton. Make no mistake, Hampton will be going for a lot of winners today and I think that will be her mistake. The new Sloane Stephens has developed more consistency and develops points much better than Hampton's crush it to oblivion style.

I'm going against the steam here and taking Stephens.....best of luck.

    tailing
    -150 now
line moving the other way doesn't scare me with stephens though, i think she is good enough now to win with the pressure

she is so athletic and gets to every ball, and most importantly, keeps the ball in play

Hampton also gets bothered very easily. When her power shots arent going in, she can go on a streak of losing 8 straight points or more. Stephens used to be like that but not this new Sloane Stephens since Wimbledon. Coaching has done a great job of getting her to patiently construct points. Everyone knows she's always had the power.

        she is making errors
stephens playing carefully (hopefully not too carefully)

There's those errors by Hampton I'm talking about. Hampton was up 40-0 on Stephens serve, triple break point for Hampton. She proceeds to lose the next 6 straight points.

Stephens most likely wil be number 1 in a year or two

her skills are Serena like but quicker and of course much younger

Not quite there yet. Top ten most likely. There's still a few rough spots in Stephens game. To be number one , you have to be downright perfect with players like Williams and Azarenka breating down your neck. Stephens may be quicker but Williams has much more consistent power with minimal errors. We'll see how she develops in the next year.
