And I mean actual Hustler, not like he runs a lot. This guy hurt his knee early in the tournament and it helped him beat Ferrer and it almost even help him upset Djokovic.
Now give Del Potro props. Guy has been playing some amazing tennis the past year and seems to get better every tournament. However, against Ferrer when he hurt his knee for the second time, I thought he was done for. I think everyone thought he was gonna call it quits for the tournament. But NOOO what happened. Instead he came back from that injury suffered in the first game of the match against Ferrer and beat down Ferrer. Ferrer probably had a different kind of game plan in tact knowing the knee was hurt. But obviously the knee wasn't as hurt as we thought.
Same story for Djokovic. Looks like a wounded Del Potro will be no match for the great Djokovic. Djokovic probably had a game plan to run Del Potro around on his weak knee. Well it turns out this knee wasn't nearly as weak as Djokovic or anyone suspected.
By keeping the focus on his knee throughout the last two matches Del Potro gave himself an advantage by seeming more hurt than he actually was. Now you could say he just played through the pain and played great... yes thats true. But he also pulled the old, ohh I cant play to my full potential...then PSYCH Im just as healthy as ever and I will beat you down. In the end Del Potro hustled the books and hustled us bettors (depending on which side you were on) and he hustled his opponents.
Great tournament for Del Potro and great freakin Wimbledon this year.
