    Auckland/Sydney week of jan 11-18
Not playing anything for real, hopefully gonna get REALLY started for the aussie open. just practice picks.

Ferrero +110 over Nishikori (win, if your book counts it)

Nishikori has injury troubles, one slight pain and he'll retire. Ferrero is looking to get a few matches under his belt before AO. [exactly as I predicted, Nishikori retires in 1st set]

    Nieminen -135 over Lopez (win)
Jarkko 5-0 H2H vs Lopez and he's on a run. Not much left to explain.

    Robredo -115 over Melzer (win)
Tommy not a hard court guy but this is his first match of the season and he is a better player. Somewhat of a toss-up but skills pay the bills.

    Andreev -210 over Dancevic (win)
    Looks like an easy win.

    Llodra -185 over Gremelmayr (win)
Llodra has more power, unlucky to lose against Stepanek last week.

    Malisse +120 over Ancic (loss)
Can't help but think Ancic is not doing well, and Malisse has steamrolled through qualifying.

    5-1

    Julien Benneteau v Lleyton Hewitt

    ATP Medibank International, Australia

In 2005 Lleyton Hewitt have won this tournament and he hopes to do that again.

Hewitt is playing at home and he knows that every time he is playing in front of his crowd everybody don’t expect less that a win.

Those two players aren’t big servers, both are very consistent behind the baseline, and both are known as a good returners.

Lleyton Hewitt become from two good wins against Hrbathy and Kiefer and a loss against Blake for Hopman Cup, in the other way Julien have won against Ginepri and lost against Soderling.

The h2h between these players is 1-1 but expect a win by Lleyton Hewitt there playing at home.

    Chris Guccione v Tomas Berdych

    ATP Medibank International, Australia

Every time that Guccione plays on Australia, his home country he produces very good exibithions, to prove that we have the last two amazing seasons that he have made, players like Nadal, Gasquet, Del Potro, Clement, Becker, Hewitt, Stepanek and Berdych lost against Guccione.

Guccione have an powerful serve, one of the best in the circuit and it’s extremely hard to broke him.

Tomas Berdych usually have some difficult to broke big servers, for example he have bad records against players like Soderling, Querrey and Karlovic.

Tomas have enough tennis to advance to the next round, but this game will be very tough for him, bet on Guccione handycap there.

        Thanks a lot!

        Mathieu -195 over Seppi (win)
I don't like the chalk especially in tennis where anyone can win but Seppi is in a very bad run dating to last year and Mathieu steamrolled Gulbis and Nishikori last week before running into a hot Verdasco.

        Fish -124 over Tipsarevic (loss)
Fish lost a tough 3 setter against Melzer last time, while Tipsy beat pedestrian opponents until losing against Cilic. Fish does not want to start the year out in the first round two times. He wants to be ready for the AO. He has a better serve and more mental stability. I see a few tough sets, or Fish winning the first tough set and winning the second easily.

        Hewitt -203 over Benneteau (win)
Simply put, this is Hewitt week. I expect him to make the finals of this tourney and possibly win. He needs a strong start and he will go deep consdering this is his home tournament... to get ready for the AO. He also beat Blake, Kiefer, and Hrbaty last week. Odds should be -300 instead of -200.

        Tursunov +145 over Gasquet (loss)
Tursunov owns the H2H 4-1, was a finalist here last year, and most importantly lost to Peya last week in the 1st round. No way he is going into the AO with 2 straight 1st round exits and Tursunov is a much better player than his rank dictates. Could go either way but I'll take my chances.

        Granollers +295 over Gulbis (loss)
Love this one! People rate Gulbis way too highly. Fun fact: Gulbis is ranked 51, Granollers 50. Gulbis always does his best in the big matches, this is not a big match. Granollers also had a decent run in Chennai last week.. the odds should be much much closer so this is worth a shot.

        Monaco +118 over Hanescu (win)
Hanescu is getting too much respect because of last week's run. Fact is he still isn't that great. Monaco went to the semis in this tourney last year and I still think he can put in a run, he is better than his rank dictates.

The rest I don't know.. too tricky.

        3-3 -> 8-4

No write-ups, they are a waste of time at this point. I'm guessing not many players care about this torunament when the AO is so close. Impossible to predict the players moods. These are basically guesses.

            Robredo -130 over Ancic

            Hewitt -140 over Tipsarevic

            Simon +115 over Gasquet

                Magdalena Rybarikova - Melinda Czink

Rybarikova is one of the biggest talents in tennis, the 20 year old slovakian is very good behind the baseline, she must improve her serve, as a new generation player she prefers to play with strength, she likes to finish the points quickly and that’s because of it she prefers to play on hardcourts, last year she has a 30-9 record when playing in hardcourts.
Czink is an hardcourt player too, she is on good shape but is very hard to see the Hungarian player pass more than 1/2 rounds per tournment.
Of course the Hungarian is not bad but it’s too hard see her on the Semifinal’s of one WTA tournment, seriously we don’t believe that gonna happen today, Rybarikova win yesterday against Penneta easily so we believe she gonna repeat the nice exibition today and gonna pass through to the semifinals.

                    Philipp Kohlschreiber v David Ferrer

                    Heineken Open

                    15th January, 01:00 GMT
After the very poor end of season last year of David Ferrer the Spanish player hopes for better things in 2009, Ferrer after Wimbledon 2008 practically disappear with the poor registry of 5-9 on hardcourts/indoors, really bad for one of the best tennis players actually.
Ferrer has one of the best returns of the circuit, the Spanish could return well against everybody, the weaker point of Ferrer is his serve, on the other side we have the German Kohlschreiber, he is a good returner too and he has one of the most beautiful backhands in the circuit.
                    So why bet on Ferrer?
Ferrer has points to defend here, he was an ancient champion of Heineken Open, he won in 2007 here and he loves this tournament, and anyone believes that the bad form of Ferrer will prevail so much longer? No way.
                    Bet on David here.

                      Heineken Open

                      15th January, 23:00 GMT

Ferrer has one of the best returns in the circuit and today he will face a big server.
After the very poor end of season last year of David Ferrer the Spanish player hopes for better things in 2009, Ferrer after Wimbledon 2008 practically disappear with the poor registry of 5-9 on hardcourts/indoors, really bad for one of the best tennis players actually.
Ferrer has one of the best returns of the circuit, the Spanish could return well against everybody, the weaker point of Ferrer is his serve, on the other side we have the Sam Querrey, the American is improving his game behind the baseline but actually he can’t still have the consistence of Ferrer, his serve is very good but with Ferrer on the other side it’s really hard to take advantage of this weapon.
Ferrer has points to defend here, he was an ancient champion of Heineken Open, he won in 2007 here and he loves this tournament, and anyone believes that the bad form of Ferrer will prevail so much longer? No way.
Ferrer have a chance to do again the final of this tournament and surely he will not give up this chance.
